The Paralyzed Man Healed

When Jesus came^G1525 back^G3825 to Capernaum^G2584 a few^G1223 days^G2250 later^G1223, it was heard^G191 that He was at home^G3624.

Mar 2:2

Mar 2:2And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer space, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them.

Mar 2:3

Mar 2:3And some people *came, bringing to Him a man who was paralyzed, carried by four men.

Mar 2:4

Mar 2:4And when they were unable to [fn]get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof [fn]above Him; and after digging an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralyzed man was lying.

Mar 2:5

Mar 2:5And Jesus, seeing their faith, *said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Mar 2:6But some of the scribes were sitting there and thinking it over in their hearts,

Mar 2:7

Mar 2:7“Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins except God alone?”

Mar 2:8

Mar 2:8Immediately Jesus, aware [fn]in His spirit that they were thinking that way within themselves, *said to them, “Why are you thinking about these things in your hearts?

Mar 2:9

Mar 2:9“Which is easier, to say to the paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven’; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk’?

Mar 2:10

Mar 2:10“But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He *said to the paralyzed man,

Mar 2:11

Mar 2:11“I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet, and go home.”

Mar 2:12

Mar 2:12And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Mar 2:14As He passed by, He saw [fn]Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting in the tax office, and He *said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.

Mar 2:15

Mar 2:16

Mar 2:16When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the [fn]sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, “Why is He eating with tax collectors and [fn]sinners?”

Mar 2:17

Mar 2:17And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Mar 2:18

Mar 2:19

Mar 2:19And Jesus said to them, “While the groom is with them, [fn]the attendants of the groom cannot fast, can they? As long as they have the groom with them, they cannot fast.

Mar 2:20

Mar 2:20“But the days will come when the groom is taken away from them, and then they will fast, on that day.

Mar 2:21

“No^G3762 one^G3762 sews^G1976 a patch^G1915 of unshrunk^G46 cloth^G4470 on an old^G3820 garment^G2440; otherwise^G1490, [fn]the patch^G4138 pulls^G142 away^G142 from it, the new^G2537 from the old^G3820, and a worse^G5501 tear^G4978 results^G1096.

Mar 2:22

Mar 2:22“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the skins as well; but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins.”

Mar 2:23

Mar 2:24

Mar 2:24The Pharisees were saying to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

Mar 2:25

Mar 2:25And He *said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions became hungry;

Mar 2:26

Mar 2:26how he entered the house of God in the [fn]time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the [fn]consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests, and he also gave it to those who were with him?”

Mar 2:27

Mar 2:27Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath [fn]was made [fn]for man, and not man [fn]for the Sabbath.

Mar 2:28

Mar 2:28“So the Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”
