Rest of the Land Divided

Then the whole^H3605 congregation^H5712 of the sons^H1121 of Israel^H3478 assembled^H6950 at Shiloh^H7887, and set^H7931 up^H7931 the tent^H168 of meeting^H4150 there^H8033; and the land^H776 was subdued^H3533 before^H6440 them.

Jos 18:2

But there remained^H3498 among the sons^H1121 of Israel^H3478 seven^H7651 tribes^H7626 who^H834 had not divided^H2505 their inheritance^H5159.

Jos 18:3

Jos 18:3So Joshua said to the sons of Israel, “How long will you [fn]put off entering to take possession of the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?

Jos 18:4

Jos 18:4“Provide for yourselves three men from [fn]each tribe so that I may send them, and that they may arise and walk through the land and write a description of it according to their inheritance; then they shall [fn]return to me.

Jos 18:5

Jos 18:5“And they shall divide it into seven portions; Judah shall stay in its territory on the south, and the house of Joseph shall stay in their territory on the north.

Jos 18:6

Jos 18:6“And you shall write a description of the land in seven divisions, and bring the description here to me. Then I will cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.

Jos 18:7

Jos 18:7“For the Levites have no portion among you, because the priesthood of the LORD is [fn]their inheritance. Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh also have received their inheritance eastward beyond the Jordan, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them.”

Jos 18:8

Then the men^H376 arose^H6965 and went^H1980, and Joshua^H3091 commanded^H6680 those who went^H1980 to write^H3789 a description of the land^H776, saying^H559, “Go^H1980 and walk^H1980 through the land^H776 and write^H3789 a description of it, and return^H7725 to me; then I will cast^H7993 lots^H1486 for you here^H6311 before^H6440 the LORD^H3068 in Shiloh^H7887.”

Jos 18:9

Jos 18:9So the men went and passed through the land, and wrote a description of it by cities in seven divisions in a book; and they came to Joshua at the camp at Shiloh.

Jos 18:10

Jos 18:10Joshua then cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD, and there Joshua divided the land for the sons of Israel according to their divisions.

The Territory of Benjamin

Jos 18:11

Now the lot^H1486 of the tribe^H4294 of the sons^H1121 of Benjamin^H1144 came^H5927 up^H5927 according to their families^H4940, and the territory^H1366 of their lot^H1486 [fn]lay^H3318 between^H996 the sons^H1121 of Judah^H3063 and the sons^H1121 of Joseph^H3130.

Jos 18:12

Jos 18:12Their border on the north side was from the Jordan, then the border went up to the side of Jericho on the north, and went up through the hill country westward, and [fn]it ended at the wilderness of Beth-aven.

Jos 18:13

Jos 18:13Then from there the border continued to Luz, to the side of Luz (that is, Bethel) southward; and the border went down to Ataroth-addar, near the hill which lies on the south of lower Beth-horon.

Jos 18:14

Jos 18:14And the border changed direction from there and turned around on the west side southward, from the hill which lies opposite Beth-horon southward; and [fn]it ended at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the sons of Judah. This was the west side.

Jos 18:15

Jos 18:15Then the south side was from the edge of Kiriath-jearim, and the border went westward and went to the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah.

Jos 18:16

Jos 18:16Then the border went down to the edge of the hill which is [fn]in the Valley of Ben-hinnom, which is in the Valley of Rephaim northward; and it went down to the Valley of Hinnom, to the slope of the Jebusite southward, and went down to En-rogel.

Jos 18:17

Jos 18:17Then it turned northward and went to En-shemesh, and went to Geliloth, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim, and it went down to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.

Jos 18:18

Jos 18:18And it continued to the side in front of the Arabah northward, and went down to the Arabah.

Jos 18:19

Jos 18:19Then the border continued to the side of Beth-hoglah northward; and the [fn]border ended at the north bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan. This was the southern border.

Jos 18:20

Jos 18:20Moreover, the Jordan was its border on the east side. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their families, and according to its borders all around.

Jos 18:21

Now the cities^H5892 of the tribe^H4294 of the sons^H1121 of Benjamin^H1144 according to their families^H4940 were Jericho^H3405, Beth-hoglah^H1031, and Emek-keziz^H6010^H7104,

Jos 18:22

Jos 18:22Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, and Bethel,

Jos 18:23

Jos 18:23Avvim, Parah, and Ophrah,

Jos 18:24

Jos 18:24Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, and Geba; twelve cities with their villages.

Jos 18:25

Jos 18:25Gibeon, Ramah, and Beeroth,

Jos 18:26

Jos 18:26Mizpeh, Chephirah, and Mozah,

Jos 18:27

Jos 18:27Rekem, Irpeel, and Taralah,

Jos 18:28

Jos 18:28Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, Kiriath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their families.
