Canaan Divided among the Tribes

Now Joshua^H3091 was^H2204 old^H2204 and advanced^H935 in years^H3117 when the LORD^H3068 said^H559 to him, “You are^H2204 old^H2204 and advanced^H935 in years^H3117, and a very^H3966 large^H7235 amount of the land^H776 remains^H7604 to be possessed^H3423.

Jos 13:2

Jos 13:2“This is the land that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and all those of the Geshurites;

Jos 13:3

Jos 13:3from the Shihor which is [fn]east of Egypt, even as far as the border of Ekron to the north (it is counted as Canaanite); the five governors of the Philistines: the Gazite, the Ashdodite, the Ashkelonite, the Gittite, the Ekronite; and the Avvite

Jos 13:4

Jos 13:4 [fn]to the south, all the land of the Canaanite, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, as far as Aphek, to the border of the Amorite;

Jos 13:5

Jos 13:5and the land of the Gebalite, and all of Lebanon, toward the [fn]east, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon as far as [fn]Lebo-hamath.

Jos 13:6

Jos 13:6“All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon as far as Misrephoth-maim, all the Sidonians, I will [fn]drive out from the sons of Israel; only allot it to Israel as an inheritance as I have commanded you.

Jos 13:7

Jos 13:7“Now therefore, apportion this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh.”

Jos 13:8

With [fn]the other half-tribe, the Reubenites^H7206 and the Gadites^H1425 received^H3947 their inheritance^H5159 which^H834 Moses^H4872 gave^H5414 them beyond^H5676 the Jordan^H3383 to the east^H4217, just^H834 as^H834 Moses^H4872 the servant^H5650 of the LORD^H3068 gave^H5414 to them;

Jos 13:9

Jos 13:9from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, with the city which is in the middle of the valley, and all the plain of Medeba, as far as Dibon;

Jos 13:10

Jos 13:10and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the border of the sons of Ammon;

Jos 13:11

Jos 13:11and Gilead, and the [fn]territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah;

Jos 13:12

Jos 13:12all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei (he alone was left of the remnant of the Rephaim); for Moses struck them and [fn]drove them out.

Jos 13:13

Jos 13:13But the sons of Israel did not [fn]drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites; instead, Geshur and Maacath live among Israel to this day.

Jos 13:14

Jos 13:14Only to the tribe of Levi he did not give an inheritance; the offerings by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are [fn]their inheritance, as He spoke to him.

Jos 13:15

So Moses^H4872 gave^H5414 an inheritance to the tribe^H4294 of the sons^H1121 of Reuben^H7205 according to their families^H4940.

Jos 13:16

Jos 13:16Their [fn]territory was from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, with the city which is in the middle of the valley and all the plain by Medeba;

Jos 13:17

Jos 13:17Heshbon and all its cities which are on the plain: Dibon, Bamoth-baal, Beth-baal-meon,

Jos 13:18

Jos 13:18Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,

Jos 13:19

Jos 13:19Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth-shahar on the hill of the valley,

Jos 13:20

Jos 13:20Beth-peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth-jeshimoth,

Jos 13:21

Jos 13:21even all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses struck with the leaders of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the leaders of Sihon, who lived in the land.

Jos 13:22

Jos 13:22The sons of Israel also killed Balaam the son of Beor, the diviner, with the sword among the rest of their dead.

Jos 13:23

Jos 13:23The border of the sons of Reuben was the [fn]Jordan. This was the inheritance of the sons of Reuben according to their families, the cities and their villages.

Jos 13:24

Moses^H4872 also gave^H5414 an inheritance to the tribe^H4294 of Gad^H1410, to the sons^H1121 of Gad^H1410 according to their families^H4940.

Jos 13:25

Jos 13:25Their territory was Jazer and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the sons of Ammon, as far as Aroer which is opposite Rabbah;

Jos 13:26

Jos 13:26and from Heshbon as far as Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim as far as the border of [fn]Debir;

Jos 13:27

Jos 13:27and in the valley, Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, with the Jordan [fn]as a border, as far as the lower end of the Sea of [fn]Chinnereth beyond the Jordan to the east.

Jos 13:28

Jos 13:28This is the inheritance of the sons of Gad according to their families, the cities and their villages.

Jos 13:29

Moses^H4872 also gave^H5414 an inheritance to the half-tribe^H2677^H7626 of Manasseh^H4519; and it was for the half-tribe^H2677^H4294 of the sons^H1121 of Manasseh^H4519 according to their families^H4940.

Jos 13:30

Jos 13:30Their territory was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the [fn]towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities;

Jos 13:31

Jos 13:31also half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were for the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh, for half of the sons of Machir according to their families.

Jos 13:32

These^H428 are the territories which^H834 Moses^H4872 apportioned^H5157 as^H5157 an^H5157 inheritance^H5157 in the plains^H6160 of Moab^H4124, beyond^H4480^H5676 the Jordan^H3383 at Jericho^H3405 to the east^H4217.

Jos 13:33

Jos 13:33But to the tribe of Levi, Moses did not give an inheritance; the LORD, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as He had [fn]promised to them.
