Job Loses His Health

Again, there was a day^H3117 when the sons^H1121 of God^H430 came^H935 to present^H3320 themselves before^H5921 the LORD^H3068, and [fn]Satan^H7854 also^H1571 came^H935 among^H8432 them to present^H3320 himself before^H5921 the LORD^H3068.

Job 2:2

Job 2:2The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

Job 2:3

Job 2:3The LORD said to Satan, “Have you [fn]considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man [fn]fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds firm to his integrity, although you incited Me against him to [fn]ruin him without cause.”

Job 2:4

Job 2:4Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has, he will give for his life.

Job 2:5

Job 2:5“However, reach out with Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face!”

Job 2:6

Job 2:6So the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your [fn]power, only spare his life.”

Job 2:7

Then Satan^H7854 went^H3318 out^H3318 from the presence^H6440 of the LORD^H3068 and struck^H5221 Job^H347 with severe^H7451 boils^H7822 from the sole^H3709 of his foot^H7272 to the top^H6936 of^H6936 his head^H6936.

Job 2:8

Job 2:8And Job took a piece of pottery to scrape himself while he was sitting in the ashes.

Job 2:9

Then his wife^H802 said^H559 to him, “Do you still^H5750 hold^H2388 firm^H2388 your integrity^H8538? Curse^H1288 God^H430 and die^H4191!”

Job 2:10

Job 2:10But he said to her, “You are speaking as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we actually accept good from God but not accept adversity?” Despite all this, Job did not sin with his lips.

Job 2:11

Now when Job’s^H347 three^H7969 friends^H7453 heard^H8085 about all^H3605 this^H2088 adversity^H7451 that had come^H935 upon^H935 him, they came^H935, each^H376 one^H376 from his own place^H4725—Eliphaz^H464 the Temanite^H8489, Bildad^H1085 the Shuhite^H7747, and Zophar^H6691 the Naamathite^H5284; and they made^H3259 an^H3259 appointment^H3259 together^H3162 to come^H935 to sympathize^H5110 with him and comfort^H5162 him.

Job 2:12

Job 2:12When they [fn]looked from a distance and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept. And each of them tore his robe, and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky.

Job 2:13

Job 2:13Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights, with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.
