Jas 4:2

Jas 4:2You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.

Jas 4:3

Jas 4:3You ask and do not receive, because you ask [fn]with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request [fn]on your pleasures.

Jas 4:4

Jas 4:4You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Jas 4:5

Jas 4:5Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose, “[fn]He [fn]jealously desires the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”?

Jas 4:6

Jas 4:6But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”

Jas 4:7

Jas 4:7Submit therefore to God. But [fn]resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Jas 4:8

Jas 4:8Come close to God and He will come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you [fn]double-minded.

Jas 4:9

Jas 4:9Be miserable, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom.

Jas 4:10

Jas 4:10Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

Jas 4:11

Do not speak^G2635 against^G2635 one^G240 another^G240, brothers^G80 and sisters. The one who speaks^G2635 against^G2635 a brother^G80 or sister, or^G2228 judges^G2919 his brother^G80 or sister, speaks^G2635 against^G2635 the law^G3551 and judges^G2919 the law^G3551; but if^G1487 you judge^G2919 the law^G3551, you are not a doer^G4163 of the law^G3551 but a judge^G2923 of it.

Jas 4:12

Jas 4:12There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you, [fn]judging your neighbor?

Jas 4:13

Come^G33 now^G3568, you who say^G3004, “Today^G4594 or^G2228 tomorrow^G839 we will go^G4198 to such^G3592 and such^G3592 a city^G4172, and spend^G4160 a year^G1763 there^G1563 and engage^G1710 in^G1710 business^G1710 and make^G2770 a^G2770 profit^G2770.”

Jas 4:14

Jas 4:14 [fn]Yet you do not know [fn]what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.

Jas 4:15

Jas 4:15 [fn]Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”

Jas 4:16

Jas 4:16But as it is, you boast in your [fn]arrogance; all such boasting is evil.

Jas 4:17So for one who knows the [fn]right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.
