Faith Brings Righteousness

Gal 3:2

Gal 3:2This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of [fn]the Law, or by hearing [fn]with faith?

Gal 3:3

Gal 3:3Are you so foolish? Having begun [fn]by the Spirit, are you now [fn]being perfected by the flesh?

Gal 3:4Did you [fn]suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?

Gal 3:5

Gal 3:5So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works [fn]miracles among you, do it by works of [fn]the Law, or by hearing [fn]with faith?

Gal 3:7

Gal 3:7Therefore, recognize that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.

Gal 3:8

Gal 3:8The Scripture, foreseeing that God [fn]would justify the [fn]Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU.”

Gal 3:9

Gal 3:9So then, those who are of faith are blessed with [fn]Abraham, the believer.

Gal 3:10

For all^G3745 who^G3745 are of works^G2041 of [fn]the Law^G3551 are under^G5259 a curse^G2671; for it is written^G1125: “CURSED^G1944 IS EVERYONE^G3956 WHO^G3739 DOES NOT ABIDE^G1696 BY^G1696 ALL^G3956 THE THINGS^G3956 WRITTEN^G1125 IN THE BOOK^G975 OF THE LAW^G3551, TO DO^G4160 THEM.”

Gal 3:11

Gal 3:11Now, that no one is justified [fn]by [fn]the Law before God is evident; for, “[fn]THE RIGHTEOUS ONE WILL LIVE BY FAITH.”

Gal 3:12

Gal 3:12 [fn]However, the Law is not [fn]of faith; on the contrary, “THE PERSON WHO PERFORMS [fn]THEM WILL LIVE BY [fn]THEM.”

Gal 3:13

Gal 3:13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written: “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A [fn]TREE”—

Gal 3:14

Gal 3:14in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Intent of the Law

Gal 3:15

Brothers^G80 and sisters, I speak^G3004 [fn]in terms^G2596 of human^G444 relations^G444: even^G3676 though^G3676 it is only a man’s^G444 [fn]covenant^G1242, yet^G3676 when it has been ratified^G2964, no^G3762 one^G3762 sets^G114 it aside^G114 or^G2228 adds^G1928 [fn]conditions^G1928 to it.

Gal 3:16

Gal 3:16Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as one would in referring to many, but rather as in referring to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ.

Gal 3:17

Gal 3:17What I am saying is this: the Law, which came 430 years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.

Gal 3:18

Gal 3:18For if the inheritance is [fn]based on law, it is no longer [fn]based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.

Gal 3:19

Why^G5101 the Law^G3551 then^G3767? It was added^G4369 on^G5484 account^G5484 of^G5484 the [fn]violations^G3847, having been ordered^G1299 through^G1223 angels^G32 at the hand^G5495 of a [fn]mediator^G3316, until^G891 the Seed^G4690 would come^G2064 to whom^G3739 the promise^G1861 had been made^G1861.

Gal 3:20

Gal 3:20Now a mediator is not [fn]for one party only; but God is only one.

Gal 3:21

Gal 3:21Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? [fn]Far from it! For if a law had been given that was able to impart life, then righteousness [fn]would indeed have been [fn]based on law.

Gal 3:22

Gal 3:22But the Scripture has confined [fn]everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

Gal 3:23

But before^G4253 faith^G4102 came^G2064, [fn]we were kept^G5432 in^G5432 custody^G5432 under^G5259 the Law^G3551, being confined^G4788 for the faith^G4102 that was destined^G3195 to be revealed^G601.

Gal 3:24

Gal 3:24Therefore the Law has become our [fn]guardian to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.

Gal 3:25

Gal 3:25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a [fn]guardian.

Gal 3:26

Gal 3:26For you are all sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:27

Gal 3:27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Gal 3:28

Gal 3:28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is [fn]neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:29

Gal 3:29And if you [fn]belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s [fn]descendants, heirs according to promise.
