Siege of Jerusalem Predicted

“Now you, son^H1121 of man^H120, get^H3947 yourself a brick^H3843, place^H5414 it before^H6440 you, and inscribe^H2710 a city^H5892 on it—Jerusalem^H3389.

Eze 4:2

Eze 4:2“Then lay siege against it, build a siege wall, pile up an assault ramp, set up camps, and place battering rams against it all around.

Eze 4:3

Eze 4:3“Then get yourself an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between yourself and the city, and direct your face toward it so that it is under siege, and besiege it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel.

Eze 4:4

“Then you are to lie^H7901 down^H7901 on your left^H8042 side^H6654 and put^H7760 the wrongdoing^H5771 of the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 on it; you shall bear^H5375 their wrongdoing^H5771 for the number^H4557 of days^H3117 that you lie^H7901 on it.

Eze 4:5

Eze 4:5“For I have assigned you a number of days corresponding to the years of their wrongdoing, 390 days; so you shall bear the wrongdoing of the house of Israel.

Eze 4:6

Eze 4:6“When you have completed these days, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and bear the wrongdoing of the house of Judah; I have assigned it to you for forty days, a day for each year.

Eze 4:7

Eze 4:7“Then you shall direct your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared, and prophesy against it.

Eze 4:8

Eze 4:8“Now behold, I will put ropes [fn]around you so that you cannot turn from your one side to your other until you have completed the days of your siege.

Defiled Bread

Eze 4:9

“But as for you, take^H3947 wheat^H2406, barley^H8184, beans^H6321, lentils^H5742, millet^H1764, and spelt^H3698, and put^H5414 them in one^H259 vessel^H3627 and make^H6213 them into bread^H3899 for yourself; you shall eat^H398 it according to the number^H4557 of the days^H3117 that you lie^H7901 on your side^H6654, 390^H7969^H3967^H8673 days^H3117.

Eze 4:10

Eze 4:10“Your food which you eat shall be twenty shekels a day by weight; you shall eat it from time to time.

Eze 4:11

Eze 4:11“The water you drink shall be a [fn]sixth of a hin by measure; you shall drink it from time to time.

Eze 4:12

Eze 4:12“You shall eat it as a barley cake, having baked it in their sight over human dung.”

Eze 4:13

Eze 4:13Then the LORD said, “In this way the sons of Israel will eat their bread unclean among the nations where I will scatter them.”

Eze 4:14

Eze 4:14But I said, “Oh, Lord [fn]GOD! Behold, [fn]I have never been defiled; for from my youth until now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by animals, nor has any unclean meat ever entered my mouth!”

Eze 4:15

Eze 4:15Then He said to me, “See, I will give you cow’s dung in place of human dung, so that you may prepare your bread over it.”

Eze 4:16

Eze 4:16Moreover, He said to me, “Son of man, behold, I am going to break the staff of bread in Jerusalem, and they will eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and drink water by measure and in horror,

Eze 4:17

Eze 4:17because bread and water will be scarce; and they will tremble with one another and waste away in their guilt.
