Judgment on Tyre

Now in the eleventh^H6249^H6240 year^H8141, on the first^H259 of the month^H2320, the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came^H1961 to me, saying^H559,

Eze 26:2

Eze 26:2“Son of man, because Tyre has said in regard to Jerusalem, ‘Aha! The gateway of the peoples is broken; it has [fn]opened to me. I shall be filled, now that she is laid waste,’

Eze 26:3

Eze 26:3therefore this is what the Lord [fn]GOD says: ‘Behold, I am against you, Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.

Eze 26:4

Eze 26:4‘They will destroy the walls of Tyre and tear down her towers; and I will sweep her debris away from her and make her a bare rock.

Eze 26:5

Eze 26:5‘She will become a dry place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken,’ declares the Lord GOD; ‘and she will become plunder for the nations.

Eze 26:6

Eze 26:6‘Also her daughters who are [fn]on the mainland will be killed by the sword, and they will know that I am the LORD.’”

Eze 26:7

For the Lord^H136 GOD^H3068 says^H559 this^H3541: “Behold^H2009, I am going to bring^H935 upon Tyre^H6865 from the north^H6828 Nebuchadnezzar^H5019 king^H4428 of Babylon^H894, king^H4428 of kings^H4428, with horses^H5483, chariots^H7393, cavalry^H6571, and [fn]a great^H7227 army^H5971^H6951.

Eze 26:8

Eze 26:8“He will kill your daughters [fn]on the mainland with the sword; and he will make siege walls against you, pile up an assault ramp against you, and raise up a large shield against you.

Eze 26:9

Eze 26:9“And he will direct the blow of his battering rams against your walls, and he will tear down your towers with his [fn]axes.

Eze 26:10

Eze 26:10“Because of the multitude of his horses, the dust raised by them will cover you; your walls will shake from the noise of cavalry, [fn]wagons, and chariots when he enters your gates as warriors enter a city that is breached.

Eze 26:11

Eze 26:11“With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will kill your people with the sword, and your strong [fn]pillars will go down to the ground.

Eze 26:12

Eze 26:12“Also they will take your riches as spoils and plunder your merchandise, tear down your walls and destroy your delightful houses, and [fn]throw your stones, your timbers, and your debris into the water.

Eze 26:13

Eze 26:13“So I will put an end to the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps will no longer be heard.

Eze 26:14

Eze 26:14“I will turn you into a bare rock; you will become a dry place for the spreading of nets. You will not be rebuilt, for I the LORD have spoken,” declares the Lord GOD.

Eze 26:15

The Lord^H136 GOD^H3068 says^H559 this^H3541 to Tyre^H6865: “Will the coastlands^H339 not shake^H7493 from the sound^H6963 of your downfall^H4658 when the wounded^H2491 groan^H602, when the slaughter^H2027 takes^H2026 place^H2026 in your midst^H8432?

Eze 26:16

Eze 26:16“Then all the princes of the sea will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their colorfully woven garments. They will clothe themselves with [fn]trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble again and again, and be appalled at you.

Eze 26:17

Eze 26:17“And they will take up a song of mourning over you and say to you,

‘How^H349 you have perished^H6, you inhabited^H3427 one,

From the seas^H3220, you famous^H1984 city^H5892,

Which^H834 was mighty^H2389 on the sea^H3220,

She and her inhabitants^H3427,

Who^H834 imposed^H5414 [fn]her terror^H2851

On all^H3605 her inhabitants^H3427!

Eze 26:18

‘Now^H6258 the coastlands^H339 will tremble^H2729

On the day^H3117 of your downfall^H4658;

Yes, the coastlands^H339 which^H834 are by the sea^H3220

Will be horrified^H926 at your passing^H3318.’”

Eze 26:19

For this^H3541 is^H3541 what^H3541 the Lord^H136 GOD^H3068 says^H559: “When I make^H5414 you a desolate^H2717 city^H5892, like the cities^H5892 which^H834 are not inhabited^H3427, when I bring^H5927 up^H5927 the deep^H8415 over^H5921 you and the great^H7227 waters^H4325 cover^H3680 you,

Eze 26:20

Eze 26:20then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you remain in the lower parts of the earth, like the ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not [fn]be inhabited; but I will put glory in the land of the living.

Eze 26:21

Eze 26:21“I will [fn]cause you sudden terrors and you will no longer exist; though you will be sought, you will never be found again,” declares the Lord GOD.
