“[fn]If^H3588 someone^H376 steals^H1589 an ox^H7794 or^H176 a sheep^H7716 and slaughters^H2873 it or^H176 sells^H4376 it, he shall pay^H7999 five^H2568 oxen^H1241 for the ox^H7794 and four^H702 sheep^H6629 for the sheep^H7716—

Exo 22:2

Exo 22:2“[fn]If the thief is [fn]caught while [fn]breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there will be no guilt for bloodshed on his account.

Exo 22:3

Exo 22:3“If the sun has risen on him, there will be guilt for bloodshed on his account—A thief shall certainly make restitution; if he owns nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

Exo 22:4

Exo 22:4“If what he stole is actually found alive in his [fn]possession, whether an ox or a donkey or a sheep, he shall pay double.

Exo 22:5

“If^H3588 someone^H376 lets a field^H7704 or^H176 vineyard^H3754 be grazed^H1197 bare and lets^H7971 his animal^H1165 loose^H7971 so that it grazes^H1197 in another^H312 person’s^H312 field^H7704, he shall make^H7999 restitution^H7999 from the best^H4315 of his own field^H7704 and the best^H4315 of his own vineyard^H3754.

Exo 22:6

“If^H3588 a fire^H784 breaks^H3318 out^H3318 and spreads^H4672 to^H4672 thorn^H6975 bushes^H6975, and stacked^H1430 grain or^H176 the standing^H7054 grain^H7054 or^H176 the field^H7704 itself is consumed^H398, the one who started^H1197 the fire^H1200 must^H7999 make^H7999 restitution^H7999.

Exo 22:7

“If^H3588 someone^H376 gives^H5414 his neighbor^H7453 money^H3701 or^H176 goods^H3627 to keep^H8104 for him and it is stolen^H1589 from the [fn]neighbor’s^H376 house^H1004, if^H518 the thief^H1590 is [fn]caught^H4672, then the thief shall pay^H7999 double^H8147.

Exo 22:8

Exo 22:8“If the thief is not [fn]caught, then the owner of the house shall [fn]appear before [fn]the judges, to determine whether he [fn]laid his hands on his neighbor’s property.

Exo 22:9

Exo 22:9“For every [fn]breach of trust, whether it is for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any lost thing about which one says, ‘This is it,’ the [fn]case of both parties shall come before [fn]the judges; he whom [fn]the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor.

“If^H3588 someone^H376 gives^H5414 his neighbor^H7453 a donkey^H2543, an ox^H7794, a sheep^H7716, or^H176 any^H3605 animal^H929 to keep^H8104 for him, and it dies^H4191 or^H176 is injured^H7665 or^H176 is driven^H7617 away^H7617 while no^H369 one^H369 is looking^H7200,

Exo 22:11

Exo 22:11an oath before the LORD shall be [fn]taken by the two of them [fn]that he has not [fn]laid a hand on his neighbor’s property; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not be compelled to make restitution.

Exo 22:12

Exo 22:12“But if it is actually stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner.

Exo 22:13

Exo 22:13“If it is all torn to pieces, have him bring it as evidence; he shall not be compelled to make restitution for what has been torn to pieces.

Exo 22:14

“And if^H3588 someone^H376 [fn]borrows^H7592 an animal from his neighbor^H7453, and it is injured^H7665 or^H176 dies^H4191 while its owner^H1167 is not with it, he shall make^H7999 full^H7999 restitution^H7999.

Exo 22:15

Exo 22:15“If its owner is with it, the borrower shall not be compelled to make restitution. If it is hired, it [fn]came by its hire.

Exo 22:17“If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he shall [fn]pay money equal to the dowry for virgins.

Exo 22:19

“Whoever^H3605 has^H7901 sexual^H7901 intercourse^H7901 with an animal^H929 must^H4191 be put^H4191 to^H4191 death^H4191.

Exo 22:20

“He who sacrifices^H2076 to [fn]any god^H430, other^H1115 than^H1115 to the LORD^H3068 alone^H905, shall be [fn]utterly^H2763 destroyed^H2763.

Exo 22:21

“You shall not oppress^H3238 a stranger^H1616 nor torment^H3905 him, for you were strangers^H1616 in the land^H776 of Egypt^H4714.

Exo 22:22“You shall not oppress any widow or orphan.

Exo 22:23

Exo 22:23“If you oppress him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will assuredly hear his cry;

Exo 22:24

Exo 22:24and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.

Exo 22:25

“If^H518 you lend^H3867 money^H3701 to My people^H5971, to the poor^H6041 [fn]among^H5973 you, you are not to [fn]act^H1961 as a creditor^H5383 to him; you shall not [fn]charge^H7760^H5921 him interest^H5392.

Exo 22:26“If you ever seize your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, you are to return it to him before the sun sets,

Exo 22:27

Exo 22:27for that is his only covering; it is his cloak for his [fn]body. What else is he to sleep in? And it will come about that when he cries out to Me, I will listen to him, for I am gracious.

Exo 22:28

“You shall not [fn]curse^H7043 God^H430, nor^H3808 curse^H779 a ruler^H5387 of your people^H5971.

Exo 22:29

“You shall not hold^H309 back^H309 the offering from your entire^H4395 harvest^H4395 and your [fn]wine^H1831. The firstborn^H1060 of your sons^H1121 you shall give^H5414 to Me.

Exo 22:30

Exo 22:30“You shall do the same with your oxen and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother for seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me.

Exo 22:31

“You shall be holy^H6944 people^H376 to Me, therefore you shall not eat^H398 any flesh^H1320 torn^H2966 to^H2966 pieces^H2966 in the field^H7704; you shall throw^H7993 it to the dogs^H3611.
