Remember God in Your Youth

Remember^H2142 also your Creator^H1254 in the days^H3117 of your youth^H979, before^H5704^H834^H3808 the evil^H7451 days^H3117 come^H935 and the years^H8141 approach^H5060 when^H834 you will say^H559, “I have^H369 no^H369 pleasure^H2656 in them”;

Ecc 12:2

Ecc 12:2before the sun and the light, the moon and the stars are darkened, and clouds return after the rain;

Ecc 12:3

Ecc 12:3on the day that the watchmen of the house tremble, and strong men are bent over, the grinders stop working because they are few, and those who look through [fn]windows grow [fn]dim;

Ecc 12:4

Ecc 12:4and the doors on the street are shut as the sound of the grinding mill is low, and one will arise at the sound of the bird, and all the daughters of song will [fn]sing softly.

Ecc 12:5

Ecc 12:5Furthermore, people are afraid of a high place and of terrors on the road; the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper drags itself along, and the caper berry is ineffective. For man goes to his eternal home while the mourners move around in the street.

Ecc 12:6

Ecc 12:6Remember your Creator before the silver cord is [fn]broken and the golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the spring is shattered and the wheel at the cistern is crushed;

Ecc 12:7

Ecc 12:7then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the [fn]spirit will return to God who gave it.

Ecc 12:8

Ecc 12:8“Futility of futilities,” says the Preacher, “all is futility!”

Purpose of the Preacher

Ecc 12:9

In addition^H3148 to being^H1961 wise^H2450, the Preacher^H6953 also^H5750 taught^H3925 the people^H5971 knowledge^H1847; and he pondered^H239, searched^H2713 out^H2713, and arranged^H8626 many^H7235 proverbs^H4912.

Ecc 12:10

Ecc 12:10The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly.

Ecc 12:11

The words^H1697 of the wise^H2450 are like [fn]goads^H1861, and masters^H1167 of these collections^H627 are like driven^H5193 nails^H4548; they are given^H5414 by one^H259 Shepherd^H7462.

Ecc 12:12

Ecc 12:12But beyond this, my son, be warned: the [fn]writing of many books is endless, and excessive study is [fn]wearying to the body.

Ecc 12:13

The conclusion^H5490^H1697, when everything^H3605 has been heard^H8085, is: fear^H3372 God^H430 and keep^H8104 His commandments^H4687, because^H3588 this^H2088 applies to every^H3605 person^H120.

Ecc 12:14

Ecc 12:14For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.
