Cast Your Bread on the Waters

Ecc 11:2

Ecc 11:2Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth.

Ecc 11:3

Ecc 11:3If the clouds are full, they pour out rain on the earth; and whether a tree falls toward the south or toward the north, wherever the tree falls, there it [fn]lies.

Ecc 11:4

Ecc 11:4One who watches the wind will not sow and one who looks at the clouds will not harvest.

Ecc 11:5

Ecc 11:5Just as you do not know the path of the [fn]wind, and how bones are formed in the womb of the [fn]pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes everything.

Ecc 11:6

Sow^H2232 your seed^H2233 in the morning^H1242 and do not [fn]be^H5117 idle^H5117^H3027 in the evening^H6153, for you do not know^H3045 whether^H335 [fn]one^H2088 or^H176 the other^H2088 will succeed^H3787, or whether^H518 both^H8147 of them alike^H259 will be good^H2896.

Ecc 11:7

The light^H216 is pleasant^H4966, and it is good^H2896 for the eyes^H5869 to see^H7200 the sun^H8121.

Ecc 11:8

Ecc 11:8Indeed, if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything that is to come will be futility.

Ecc 11:9

Rejoice^H8055, young^H970 man^H970, during your childhood^H3208, and let your heart^H3820 be^H3190 pleasant^H3190 during the days^H3117 of young^H979 manhood^H979. Ecc 11:10

Ecc 11:10So remove [fn]sorrow from your heart and keep [fn]pain away from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are [fn]fleeting.
