Laws of the Sanctuary

“These^H428 are the statutes^H2706 and the judgments^H4941 which^H834 you shall carefully^H8104 [fn]follow^H6213 in the land^H776 which^H834 the LORD^H3068, the God^H430 of your fathers^H1, has given^H5414 you to possess^H3423 [fn]as^H3605^H3117 long^H3605^H3117 as you live^H2416 on the [fn]earth^H127.

Deu 12:2

Deu 12:2“You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations whom you are going to dispossess serve their gods, on the high mountains, on the hills, and under every leafy tree.

Deu 12:3

Deu 12:3“And you shall tear down their altars and smash their memorial stones to pieces, and burn their [fn]Asherim in the fire, and cut to pieces the carved images of their gods; and you shall eliminate their name from that place.

Deu 12:4

Deu 12:4“You shall not act this way toward the LORD your God.

Deu 12:5

Deu 12:5“But you shall seek the LORD at the place which the LORD your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwelling, and you shall come there.

Deu 12:6

Deu 12:6“You shall bring there your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the [fn]contribution of your hand, your vowed offerings, your [fn]voluntary offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock.

Deu 12:7

Deu 12:7“There you and your households shall eat before the LORD your God, and rejoice in all [fn]your undertakings in which the LORD your God has blessed you.

Deu 12:8

“You shall not do^H6213 at all^H3605 what^H834 we are doing^H6213 here^H6311 today^H3117, everyone^H376 doing whatever^H3605 is right^H3477 in his own eyes^H5869;

Deu 12:9

Deu 12:9for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance which the LORD your God is giving you.

Deu 12:10

Deu 12:10“When you cross the Jordan and live in the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and He gives you rest from all your enemies around you so that you live in security,

Deu 12:11

Deu 12:11then it shall come about that the place in which the LORD your God will choose for His name to dwell, there you shall bring everything that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the [fn]contribution of your hand, and all your choice vowed offerings which you will vow to the LORD.

Deu 12:12

Deu 12:12“And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you and your sons and daughters, your male and female slaves, and the Levite who is within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance with you.

Deu 12:13

“Be^H8104 careful^H8104 that you do not offer^H5927 your burnt^H5930 offerings^H5930 in any^H3605 cultic place^H4725 that you see^H7200,

Deu 12:14

Deu 12:14but only in the place which the LORD chooses in one of your tribes: there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do everything that I command you.

Deu 12:15

“However^H7534, you may slaughter^H2076 and eat^H398 meat^H1320 within any^H3605 of your gates^H8179, [fn]whatever^H3605 you desire^H185, according to the blessing^H1293 of the LORD^H3068 your God^H430 which^H834 He has given^H5414 you; the unclean^H2931 and the clean^H2889 alike may eat^H398 it, as the gazelle^H6643 and the deer^H354.

Deu 12:16

Deu 12:16“Only you shall not eat the blood; you are to pour it out on the ground like water.

Deu 12:17

Deu 12:17“You are not allowed to eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, new wine, or oil, or the firstborn of your herd or flock, or any of your vowed offerings which you vow, or your [fn]voluntary offerings, or the [fn]contribution of your hand.

Deu 12:18

Deu 12:18“But you shall eat them before the LORD your God in the place which the LORD your God will choose, you and your son and daughter, and your male and female slaves, and the Levite who is within your gates; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God in all [fn]your undertakings.

Deu 12:19

Deu 12:19“Be careful that you do not abandon the Levite [fn]as long as you live in your land.

Deu 12:20

“When^H3588 the LORD^H3068 your God^H430 extends^H7337 your border^H1366 as He has [fn]promised^H1696 you, and you say^H559, ‘I will eat^H398 meat^H1320,’ because^H3588 [fn]you desire^H183 to eat^H398 meat^H1320, then you may eat^H398 meat^H1320, [fn]whatever^H3605 you desire^H185.

Deu 12:21

Deu 12:21“If the place where the LORD your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, then you may slaughter animals from your herd and flock which the LORD has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates [fn]whatever you desire.

Deu 12:22

Deu 12:22“Just as a gazelle or a deer is eaten, so you may eat it; the unclean and the clean alike may eat it.

Deu 12:23

Deu 12:23“Only be sure not to eat the blood, for the blood is the [fn]life, and you shall not eat the [fn]life with the flesh.

Deu 12:24

Deu 12:24“You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.

Deu 12:25

Deu 12:25“You shall not eat it, so that it may go well for you and your sons after you, since you will be doing what is right in the sight of the LORD.

Deu 12:26

Deu 12:26“Only your holy things which you may have and your vowed offerings, you shall take and go to the place which the LORD chooses.

Deu 12:27

Deu 12:27“And you shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of the LORD your God; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of the LORD your God, and you shall eat the flesh.

Deu 12:28

“Be^H8104 careful^H8104 and listen^H8085 to all^H3605 these^H428 words^H1697 which^H834 I am commanding^H6680 you, so^H4616 that^H4616 it may go^H3190 well^H3190 for you and your sons^H1121 after^H310 you forever^H5704^H5769, for you will be doing^H6213 what^H2896 is^H2896 good^H2896 and right^H3477 in the sight^H5869 of the LORD^H3068 your God^H430.

Deu 12:29

“When^H3588 the LORD^H3068 your God^H430 cuts^H3772 off^H3772 from you the nations^H1471 which^H834 you are going^H935 in^H935 to dispossess^H3423, and you dispossess^H3423 them and live^H3427 in their land^H776,

Deu 12:30

Deu 12:30be careful that you are not ensnared [fn]to follow them, after they are destroyed from your presence, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?’

Deu 12:31

Deu 12:31“You shall not behave this way toward the LORD your God, because every abominable act which the LORD hates, they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire for their gods.

Deu 12:32

“[fn]Whatever^H3605^H1697^H834 I command^H6680 you, you shall be^H8104 careful^H8104 to do^H6213; you shall not add^H3254 to nor^H3808 take^H1639 anything away^H1639 from it.
