Man of Lawlessness

Now^G1161 we ask^G2065 you, brothers^G80 and sisters, regarding^G5228 the [fn]coming^G3952 of our Lord^G2962 Jesus^G2424 Christ^G5547 and our gathering^G1997 together^G1997 to Him,

2Th 2:2

2Th 2:2that you not be quickly shaken from your [fn]composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a [fn]message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

2Th 2:3

2Th 2:3No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the [fn]apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

2Th 2:4

2Th 2:4who opposes and exalts himself above [fn]every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

2Th 2:5

2Th 2:5Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?

2Th 2:6

2Th 2:6And you know what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time.

2Th 2:7

2Th 2:7For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only [fn]He who now restrains will do so until [fn]He is [fn]removed.

2Th 2:8

2Th 2:8Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His [fn]coming;

2Th 2:9

2Th 2:9that is, the one whose [fn]coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false [fn]signs and wonders,

2Th 2:10

2Th 2:10and with [fn]all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved.

2Th 2:11

2Th 2:11For this reason God [fn]will send upon them [fn]a deluding influence so that they will believe [fn]what is false,

2Th 2:12

2Th 2:12in order that they all may be [fn]judged who did not believe the truth, but [fn]took pleasure in wickedness.

2Th 2:13

But we should^G3784 always^G3842 give^G2168 thanks^G2168 to God^G2316 for you, brothers^G80 and sisters beloved^G25 by the Lord^G2962, because^G3754 God^G2316 has chosen^G138 you [fn]from the beginning^G746 for salvation^G4991 [fn]through^G1722 sanctification^G38 [fn]by the Spirit^G4151 and faith^G4102 in the truth^G225.

2Th 2:14

2Th 2:14It was for this He called you through our gospel, [fn]that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2Th 2:15

2Th 2:15So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter [fn]from us.

2Th 2:16

Now^G1161 may our Lord^G2962 Jesus^G2424 Christ^G5547 Himself^G846 and God^G2316 our Father^G3962, who has loved^G25 us and given^G1325 us eternal^G166 comfort^G3874 and good^G18 hope^G1680 by grace^G5485,

2Th 2:17

2Th 2:17comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
