Jotham Succeeds Uzziah in Judah

(2Ki 15:32–38 )

Jotham^H3147 was twenty-five^H6242^H2568 years^H8141 old^H1121 when he became^H4427 king^H4427, and he reigned^H4427 for sixteen^H8337^H6240 years^H8141 in Jerusalem^H3389. And his mother’s^H517 name^H8034 was Jerushah^H3388 the daughter^H1323 of Zadok^H6659.

2Ch 27:2

2Ch 27:2He did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah had done; however he did not enter the temple of the LORD. But the people continued acting corruptly.

2Ch 27:3He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and he built the wall of Ophel extensively.

2Ch 27:4

2Ch 27:4Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and he built fortresses and towers on the wooded hills.

2Ch 27:5

2Ch 27:5He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed over them so that during that year the Ammonites gave him [fn]a hundred talents of silver, [fn]ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The Ammonites also paid him this amount in the second year and in the third.

2Ch 27:6

2Ch 27:6So Jotham became powerful because he directed his ways before the LORD his God.

2Ch 27:7

2Ch 27:7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, all his wars and his ways, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.

2Ch 27:8

2Ch 27:8He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for sixteen years.

2Ch 27:9

2Ch 27:9And Jotham [fn]lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and his son Ahaz became king in his place.
