Instructions to Those Who Minister

All^G3745 who^G3745 are under^G5259 the yoke^G2218 as slaves^G1401 are to regard^G2233 their own^G2398 masters^G1203 as worthy^G514 of all^G3956 honor^G5092 so^G2443 that^G2443 the name^G3686 of God^G2316 and our doctrine^G1319 will not be [fn]spoken^G987 against^G987.

1Ti 6:2

1Ti 6:2Those who have believers as their masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brothers or sisters, but must serve them all the more, because those who [fn]partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and [fn]preach these principles.

1Ti 6:3

If^G1487 anyone^G5100 advocates^G2085 a^G2085 different^G2085 doctrine^G2085 and does not [fn]agree^G4334 with sound^G5198 words^G3056, those^G3588 of our Lord^G2962 Jesus^G2424 Christ^G5547, and with the doctrine^G1319 conforming^G2596 to godliness^G2150,

1Ti 6:4

1Ti 6:4he is conceited and understands nothing; but he [fn]has a sick craving for controversial questions and disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,

1Ti 6:5

1Ti 6:5and constant friction between people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that [fn]godliness is a means of gain.

1Ti 6:6

1Ti 6:6But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.

1Ti 6:7

1Ti 6:7For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either.

1Ti 6:8

1Ti 6:8If we have food and [fn]covering, with these we shall be content.

1Ti 6:9

1Ti 6:9But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction.

1Ti 6:10

1Ti 6:10For the love of money is a root of all [fn]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many [fn]griefs.

1Ti 6:11

But flee^G5343 from these^G3778 things^G3778, you man^G444 of God^G2316, and pursue^G1377 righteousness^G1343, godliness^G2150, faith^G4102, love^G26, [fn]perseverance^G5281, and gentleness^G6073.

1Ti 6:12

1Ti 6:12Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

1Ti 6:13

1Ti 6:13I direct you in the presence of God, who [fn]gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

1Ti 6:14

1Ti 6:14that you keep the commandment without [fn]fault or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

1Ti 6:15

1Ti 6:15which He will [fn]bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of [fn]kings and Lord of [fn]lords,

1Ti 6:16

1Ti 6:16who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom [fn]no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

1Ti 6:17

Instruct^G3853 those^G3588 who are rich^G4145 in this^G3588 present^G3568 world^G165 not to be conceited^G5309 or^G3366 to set^G1679 their hope^G1679 on the uncertainty^G83 of riches^G4149, but on God^G2316, who richly^G4146 supplies^G3930 us with all^G3956 things^G3956 to enjoy^G619.

1Ti 6:18Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good [fn]works, to be generous and ready to share,

1Ti 6:19

1Ti 6:19storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

1Ti 6:20

1Ti 6:21which some have professed and thereby have gone astray [fn]from the faith.
