1Th 2:2

1Th 2:2but after we had already suffered and been treated abusively in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God [fn]amid much [fn]opposition.

1Th 2:3

1Th 2:3For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or [fn]by way of deceit;

1Th 2:4

1Th 2:4but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not intending to please people, but to please God, who [fn]examines our hearts.

1Th 2:5

1Th 2:5For we never came [fn]with flattering speech, as you know, nor with a pretext [fn]for greed—God is our witness—

1Th 2:6

1Th 2:6nor did we seek honor from people, either from you or from others, though [fn]we could have [fn]asserted our authority as apostles of Christ.

1Th 2:7

1Th 2:7But we [fn]proved to be [fn]gentle [fn]among you. As a nursing mother [fn]tenderly cares for her own children,

1Th 2:8

1Th 2:8in the same way we had a fond affection for you and were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but also our own [fn]lives, because you had become [fn]very dear to us.

1Th 2:9

For you recall^G3421, brothers^G80 and sisters, our labor^G2873 and hardship^G3449: it was by working^G2038 night^G3571 and day^G2250 so^G4314 as not to be^G1912 a^G1912 burden^G1912 to^G1912 any^G5100 of you, that we proclaimed^G2784 to you the gospel^G2098 of God^G2316.

1Th 2:10

1Th 2:10You are witnesses, and so is God, of how devoutly and rightly and blamelessly we [fn]behaved toward you [fn]believers;

1Th 2:11

1Th 2:11just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,

1Th 2:12

1Th 2:12so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

1Th 2:13

For this^G3778 reason^G1223 we also^G2532 constantly^G89 thank^G2168 God^G2316 that when you received^G3880 the word^G3056 of God^G2316 which^G3739 you heard^G191 from us, you accepted^G1209 it not as the word^G3056 of mere men^G444, but as^G2531 what^G2531 it really^G230 is, the word^G3056 of God^G2316, which^G3739 also^G2532 is^G1754 at^G1754 work^G1754 in you who believe^G4100.

1Th 2:14

1Th 2:14For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews,

1Th 2:15

1Th 2:15who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and [fn]drove us out. [fn]They are not pleasing to God, [fn]but hostile to all people,

1Th 2:16

1Th 2:16hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always [fn]reach the limit of their sins. But wrath has come upon them [fn]fully.

1Th 2:17

But we, brothers^G80 and sisters, having been orphaned^G642 from you by absence for a [fn]short^G2540^G5610 while^G5610—in [fn]person^G4383, not in [fn]spirit^G2588—were all^G4056 the^G4056 more^G4056 eager^G4704 with great^G4183 desire^G1939 to see^G3708 your face^G4383.
