Now^G1161 concerning^G4012 the things about which^G3739 you wrote^G1125, it is good^G2570 for a man^G444 [fn]not to touch^G681 a woman^G1135.

1Co 7:2

1Co 7:2But because of sexual immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband.

1Co 7:3

1Co 7:3The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise the wife also to her husband.

1Co 7:4

1Co 7:4The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise the husband also does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

1Co 7:5

1Co 7:5 [fn]Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and [fn]come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

1Co 7:6

1Co 7:6But this I say by way of concession, not of command.

1Co 7:7

1Co 7:7 [fn]Yet I wish that all [fn]men were even as I myself am. However, each has his own gift from God, one in this way, and another in that.

1Co 7:8

But I say^G3004 to the unmarried^G22 and to widows^G5503 that it is good^G2570 for them if^G1437 they remain^G3306 even^G2532 as I.

1Co 7:9

1Co 7:9But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

1Co 7:10

But to the married^G1060 I give^G3853 instructions^G3853, not I, but the Lord^G2962, that the wife^G1135 is not to leave^G5563 her husband^G435

1Co 7:11

1Co 7:11(but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband is not to [fn]divorce his wife.

1Co 7:12

But to the rest^G3062 I say^G3004, not the Lord^G2962, that if^G1487 any^G5100 brother^G80 has^G2192 an unbelieving^G571 wife^G1135, and she consents^G4909 to live^G3611 with him, he must not [fn]divorce^G863 her.

1Co 7:13

1Co 7:13And [fn]if any woman has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not [fn]divorce her husband.

1Co 7:14

1Co 7:14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through [fn]her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

1Co 7:15

1Co 7:15Yet if the unbelieving one is leaving, [fn]let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called [fn]us in peace.

1Co 7:16

1Co 7:16For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

1Co 7:17

1Co 7:18

1Co 7:18Was any man called when he was already circumcised? He is not to become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? He is not to be circumcised.

1Co 7:19

1Co 7:19Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.

1Co 7:20

1Co 7:20Each person is to remain in that [fn]state in which he was called.

1Co 7:21

Were you called^G2564 as a slave^G1401? Do not let it concern^G3199 you. But if^G1487 you are also^G2532 able^G1410 to become^G1096 free^G1658, take^G5530^G3123 advantage^G5530^G3123 of that.

1Co 7:22

1Co 7:22For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave, is the Lord’s freed person; likewise the one who was called as free, is Christ’s slave.

1Co 7:23

1Co 7:23You were bought for a price; do not become slaves of people.

1Co 7:24

1Co 7:24Brothers and sisters, each one is to remain with God in that condition in which he was called.

1Co 7:25

Now^G1161 concerning^G4012 virgins^G3933, I have^G2192 no^G3756 command^G2003 of the Lord^G2962, but I am offering^G1325 direction^G1106 as one who [fn]by the mercy^G1653 of the Lord^G2962 is trustworthy^G4103.

1Co 7:26

1Co 7:26I think, then, that this is good in view of the [fn]present distress, that it is good for a man [fn]to remain as he is.

1Co 7:27

1Co 7:27Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be released. Are you released from a wife? Do not seek a wife.

1Co 7:28

1Co 7:28But if you marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Yet such people as yourselves will have [fn]trouble in this life, and I am trying to spare you.

1Co 7:29

1Co 7:29But this I say, brothers, the time has been shortened, so that from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none;

1Co 7:30

1Co 7:30and those who weep, as though they did not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those who buy, as though they did not possess;

1Co 7:31

1Co 7:31and those who use the world, as though they did not make full use of it; for the present form of this world is passing away.

1Co 7:32

But I want^G2309 you to be free^G275 from^G275 concern^G275. One who is unmarried^G22 is concerned^G3309 about^G3309 the things of the Lord^G2962, how^G4459 he may please^G700 the Lord^G2962;

1Co 7:33

1Co 7:33but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife,

1Co 7:34and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

1Co 7:35

1Co 7:35I say this for your own benefit, not to put a restraint on you, but [fn]to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord.

1Co 7:36

But if^G1487 anyone^G5100 thinks^G3543 that he is acting^G807 dishonorably^G807 toward^G1909 his virgin^G3933, if^G1437 she is [fn]past^G5230 her youth^G5230 and it ought^G3784 to be so^G3779, let him do^G4160 what^G3739 he wishes^G2309, he is not sinning^G264; let [fn]them marry^G1060.

1Co 7:37

1Co 7:37But the one who stands firm in his heart, [fn]if he is not under constraint, but has authority [fn]over his own will, and has decided this in his own heart, to keep his own virgin, he will do well.

1Co 7:38

1Co 7:38So then, both the one who gives his own virgin in marriage does well, and the one who does not give her in marriage will do better.

1Co 7:39

A wife^G1135 is bound^G1210 as long^G3745^G5550 as^G3745 her husband^G435 lives^G2198; but if^G1437 her husband^G435 [fn]dies^G2837, she is free^G1658 to be married^G1060 to whom^G3739 she wishes^G2309, only^G3440 in the Lord^G2962.

1Co 7:40But in my opinion she is [fn]happier if she remains as she is; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.
