Paul’s Reliance upon the Spirit

And when I came^G2064 to you, brothers^G80 and sisters, I did not come^G2064 as someone superior^G5247 in [fn]speaking^G3056 ability^G3056 or^G2228 [fn]wisdom^G4678, as I proclaimed^G2605 to you the [fn]testimony^G3142 of God^G2316.

1Co 2:2For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

1Co 2:3

1Co 2:3I also was with you in weakness and fear, and in great trembling,

1Co 2:4

1Co 2:4and my [fn]message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of [fn]wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

1Co 2:5

1Co 2:5so that your faith would not [fn]rest on the [fn]wisdom of mankind, but on the power of God.

1Co 2:6

Yet^G1161 we do speak^G2980 wisdom^G4678 among^G1722 those^G3588 who are mature^G5046; a wisdom^G4678, however^G1161, not of this^G3778 age^G165 nor^G3761 of the rulers^G758 of this^G3778 age^G165, who are passing^G2673 away^G2673;

1Co 2:7

1Co 2:7but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

1Co 2:8

1Co 2:8the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;

1Co 2:9

1Co 2:9but just as it is written:

“THINGS WHICH^G3739 EYE^G3788 HAS NOT SEEN^G3708 AND EAR^G3775 HAS NOT HEARD^G191,

AND WHICH HAVE NOT ENTERED^G305 THE HUMAN^G444 HEART^G2588,

ALL^G3745 THAT GOD^G2316 HAS PREPARED^G2090 FOR THOSE^G3588 WHO LOVE^G25 HIM.”

1Co 2:10

[fn]For to us God^G2316 revealed^G601 them through^G1223 the Spirit^G4151; for the Spirit^G4151 searches^G2045 all^G3956 things^G3956, even^G2532 the depths^G899 of God^G2316.

1Co 2:11

1Co 2:11For who among people knows the thoughts of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? So also the thoughts of God no one knows, except the Spirit of God.

1Co 2:12

1Co 2:12Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God.

1Co 2:13

1Co 2:13We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, [fn]combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

1Co 2:14

But [fn]a natural^G5591 person^G444 does not accept^G1209 the things of the Spirit^G4151 of God^G2316, for they are foolishness^G3472 to him; and he cannot^G1410^G3756 understand^G1097 them, because^G3754 they are spiritually^G4153 discerned^G350.

1Co 2:15

1Co 2:15But the one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is [fn]discerned by no one.

1Co 2:16

1Co 2:16For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.
