The Fact of Christ’s Resurrection

Now^G1161 I make^G1107 known^G1107 to you, brothers^G80 and sisters, the gospel^G2098 which^G3739 I preached^G2097 to you, which^G3739 you also^G2532 received^G3880, in which^G3739 you also^G2532 stand^G2476,

1Co 15:2

1Co 15:2by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to [fn]the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

1Co 15:3

For I handed^G3860 down^G3860 to you [fn]as of first^G4413 importance^G4413 what^G3739 I also^G2532 received^G3880, that Christ^G5547 died^G599 for our sins^G266 according^G2596 to the Scriptures^G1124,

1Co 15:4

1Co 15:4and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

1Co 15:5

1Co 15:5and that He appeared to [fn]Cephas, then to the twelve.

1Co 15:6

1Co 15:6After that He appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep;

1Co 15:7

1Co 15:7then He appeared to [fn]James, then to all the apostles;

1Co 15:8

1Co 15:8and last of all, as [fn]to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.

1Co 15:9

1Co 15:9For I am the least of the apostles, [fn]and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

1Co 15:10

1Co 15:10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

1Co 15:11

1Co 15:11Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

1Co 15:12

Now^G1161 if^G1487 Christ^G5547 is preached^G2784, that He has been raised^G1453 from the dead^G3498, how^G4459 do some^G5100 among^G1722 you say^G3004 that there is no^G3756 resurrection^G386 of the dead^G3498?

1Co 15:13

1Co 15:13But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised;

1Co 15:14

1Co 15:14and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is in vain.

1Co 15:15

1Co 15:15Moreover, we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified [fn]against God that He raised [fn]Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.

1Co 15:16

1Co 15:16For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised;

1Co 15:17

1Co 15:17and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.

1Co 15:18

1Co 15:18Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

1Co 15:19

1Co 15:19If we have hoped in Christ only in this life, we are of all people most to be pitied.

The Order of Resurrection

1Co 15:20

But the^G3570 fact^G3570 is^G3570, Christ^G5547 has been raised^G1453 from the dead^G3498, the first^G536 fruits^G536 of those^G3588 who are^G2837 asleep^G2837.

1Co 15:21

1Co 15:21For since by a man death came, by a Man also came the resurrection of the dead.

1Co 15:22

1Co 15:22For as in Adam all die, so also in [fn]Christ all will be made alive.

1Co 15:23

1Co 15:23But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming,

1Co 15:24

1Co 15:24then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to our God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

1Co 15:25

1Co 15:25For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

1Co 15:26

1Co 15:26The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

1Co 15:27

1Co 15:27For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is clear that [fn]this excludes the Father who put all things in subjection to Him.

1Co 15:28

1Co 15:28When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

1Co 15:29

For^G1893 otherwise^G1893, what^G5101 will those^G3588 do^G4160 who are baptized^G907 [fn]for the dead^G3498? If^G1487 the dead^G3498 are not raised^G1453 at all^G3654, why^G5101 then^G2532 are they baptized^G907 [fn]for them?

1Co 15:30Why are we also in danger every hour?

1Co 15:31

1Co 15:31I affirm, brothers and sisters, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I die daily.

1Co 15:32

1Co 15:32If [fn]from human motives I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what good is it to me? If the dead are not raised, LET’S EAT AND DRINK, FOR TOMORROW WE DIE.

1Co 15:33

1Co 15:33Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

1Co 15:34

1Co 15:34Sober up [fn]morally and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.

1Co 15:35

But someone^G5100 will say^G3004, “How^G4459 are the dead^G3498 raised^G1453? And with what^G4169 kind^G4169 of body^G4983 do they come^G2064?”

1Co 15:36

1Co 15:36You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies;

1Co 15:37

1Co 15:37and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of [fn]something else.

1Co 15:38

1Co 15:38But God gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.

1Co 15:39

1Co 15:39All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of mankind, another flesh of animals, another flesh of birds, and another of fish.

1Co 15:40

1Co 15:40There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another.

1Co 15:41

1Co 15:41There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.

1Co 15:42

So^G3779 also^G2532 is the resurrection^G386 of the dead^G3498. It is sown^G4687 [fn]a perishable^G5356 body, it is raised^G1453 [fn]an imperishable^G861 body;

1Co 15:43

1Co 15:43it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;

1Co 15:44

1Co 15:44it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

1Co 15:45

1Co 15:45So also it is written: “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING [fn]PERSON.” The last Adam was a life-giving spirit.

1Co 15:46

1Co 15:46However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.

1Co 15:47

1Co 15:47The first man is from the earth, [fn]earthy; the second Man is from heaven.

1Co 15:48

1Co 15:48As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly One, so also are those who are heavenly.

1Co 15:49

1Co 15:49Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, [fn]we will also bear the image of the heavenly.

1Co 15:50

Now^G1161 I say^G5346 this^G3778, brothers^G80 and sisters, that flesh^G4561 and blood^G129 cannot^G1410^G3756 inherit^G2816 the kingdom^G932 of God^G2316; nor^G3761 does [fn]the perishable^G5356 inherit^G2816 [fn]the imperishable^G861.

1Co 15:51

1Co 15:51Behold, I am telling you a [fn]mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,

1Co 15:52

1Co 15:52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised [fn]imperishable, and we will be changed.

1Co 15:53

1Co 15:53For this [fn]perishable must put on [fn]the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.

1Co 15:54

1Co 15:54But when this [fn]perishable puts on [fn]the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written: “DEATH HAS BEEN SWALLOWED UP in victory.

1Co 15:55“WHERE, O DEATH, IS YOUR VICTORY? WHERE, O DEATH, IS YOUR STING?”

1Co 15:56

1Co 15:56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law;

1Co 15:57but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1Co 15:58

Therefore^G5620, my beloved^G27 brothers^G80 and sisters, be firm^G1476, immovable^G277, always^G3842 excelling^G4052 in the work^G2041 of the Lord^G2962, knowing^G6063 that your labor^G2873 is not in vain^G2756 in the Lord^G2962.
