Offerings for the Temple

Then King^H4428 David^H1732 said^H559 to the entire^H3605 assembly^H6951, “My son^H1121 Solomon^H8010, whom alone^H259 God^H430 has chosen^H977, is still young^H5288 and inexperienced^H7390, and the work^H4399 is great^H1419; for the [fn]temple^H1002 is not for mankind^H120, but for the LORD^H3068 God^H430.

1Ch 29:2

1Ch 29:2“Now with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance.

1Ch 29:3

1Ch 29:3“In addition, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy [fn]temple,

1Ch 29:4

1Ch 29:4namely, three thousand [fn]talents of gold, from the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the [fn]buildings;

1Ch 29:5

1Ch 29:5gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work [fn]done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing [fn]to consecrate himself this day to the LORD?”

1Ch 29:6

Then the rulers^H8269 of the fathers’^H1 households, the leaders^H8269 of the tribes^H7626 of Israel^H3478, and the commanders^H8269 of thousands^H505 and hundreds^H3967, with the supervisors^H8269 of the king’s^H4428 work^H4399, offered^H5068 willingly^H5068;

1Ch 29:7and for the service of the house of God they gave five thousand talents and ten thousand [fn]darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of brass, and a hundred thousand talents of iron.

1Ch 29:8

1Ch 29:8 [fn]Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, [fn]in care of Jehiel the Gershonite.

1Ch 29:9

1Ch 29:9Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the LORD wholeheartedly, and King David also rejoiced greatly.

David’s Prayer

1Ch 29:10

So David^H1732 blessed^H1288 the LORD^H3068 in the sight^H5869 of all^H3605 the assembly^H6951; and David^H1732 said^H559, “Blessed^H1288 are You, LORD^H3068 God^H430 of Israel^H3478 our father^H1, forever^H5769 and ever^H5769.

1Ch 29:11

1Ch 29:11“Yours, LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth; Yours is the dominion, LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

1Ch 29:12

1Ch 29:12“Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.

1Ch 29:13

1Ch 29:13“Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.

1Ch 29:14

“But who^H4310 am I and who^H4310 are my people^H5971 that we should [fn]be^H6113 able^H6113^H3581 to offer^H5068 as generously as this^H2088? For all^H3605 things^H3605 come from You, and from Your hand^H3027 we have given^H5414 to You.

1Ch 29:15

1Ch 29:15“For we are strangers before You, and temporary residents, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

1Ch 29:16

1Ch 29:16“LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and everything is Yours.

1Ch 29:17

1Ch 29:17“Since I know, my God, that You put the heart to the test and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.

1Ch 29:18

1Ch 29:18“LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the [fn]intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts to You;

1Ch 29:19

1Ch 29:19and give my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the [fn]temple for which I have made provision.”

1Ch 29:20

Then David^H1732 said^H559 to all^H3605 the assembly^H6951, “Now^H4994 bless^H1288 the LORD^H3068 your God^H430.” And all^H3605 the assembly^H6951 blessed^H1288 the LORD^H3068, the God^H430 of their fathers^H1, and bowed^H6915 down^H6915 and paid^H2331 [fn]homage^H2331 to the LORD^H3068 and the king^H4428.

1Ch 29:21

1Ch 29:21On the next day they [fn]made sacrifices to the LORD and offered burnt offerings to the LORD, a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

1Ch 29:22

1Ch 29:22So they ate and drank that day before the LORD with great gladness.

And they made^H4427 Solomon^H8010 the son^H1121 of David^H1732 king^H4427 a second^H8145 time^H8145, and they anointed^H4886 him as ruler^H5057 for the LORD^H3068 and Zadok^H6659 as priest^H3548.

1Ch 29:23

1Ch 29:23Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of his father David; and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.

1Ch 29:24

1Ch 29:24And all the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David [fn]pledged allegiance to King Solomon.

1Ch 29:25

1Ch 29:25The LORD highly honored Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him royal majesty which had not been bestowed on any king before him in Israel.

1Ch 29:26

Now David^H1732 the son^H1121 of Jesse^H3448 reigned^H4427 over^H5921 all^H3605 Israel^H3478.

1Ch 29:27

1Ch 29:27The period which he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years and [fn]in Jerusalem thirty-three years.

Death of David

1Ch 29:28

1Ch 29:28Then he died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor; and his son Solomon reigned in his place.

1Ch 29:29Now the acts of King David, from the first to the last, are written in the chronicles of Samuel the seer, in the chronicles of Nathan the prophet, and in the chronicles of Gad the seer,

1Ch 29:30

1Ch 29:30with all of his reign, his power, and the circumstances which came upon him, Israel, and all the kingdoms of the lands.
