Jerusalem, the City of Truth

Then the word^H1697 of Yahweh^H3068 of hosts^H6635 came^H1961, saying^H559,

Zec 8:2“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘[fn]I am jealous with great jealousy for Zion, and with great wrath I am jealous for her.’

Zec 8:3

Zec 8:3“Thus says Yahweh, ‘I will return to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of Yahweh of hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.’

Zec 8:4

Zec 8:4“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘Old men and old women will again sit in the [fn]streets of Jerusalem, each man with his staff in his hand because of [fn]age.

Zec 8:5

Zec 8:5‘And the [fn]streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in its [fn]streets.’

Zec 8:6

Zec 8:6“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘If it is [fn]too difficult in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days, will it also be [fn]too difficult in My sight?’ declares Yahweh of hosts.

Zec 8:7

Zec 8:7“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘Behold, I am going to save My people from the land where the [fn]sun rises and from the land where the [fn]sun sets;

Zec 8:8

Zec 8:8and I will bring them back, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God in [fn]truth and righteousness.’

Zec 8:9

“Thus^H3541 says^H559 Yahweh^H3068 of hosts^H6635, ‘Let your hands^H3027 be strong^H2388, you who are listening^H8085 in these^H428 days^H3117 to these^H428 words^H1697 from the mouth^H6310 of the prophets^H5030, those who^H834 spoke in the day^H3117 that the foundation^H3245 of the house^H1004 of Yahweh^H3068 of hosts^H6635 was laid^H3245, to the end that the temple^H1964 might be built^H1129.

Zec 8:10

Zec 8:10‘For before those days there was no wage for man or any wage for animal; and for him who went out or came in there was no [fn]peace because of the adversary, and I set all men one against another.

Zec 8:11

Zec 8:11‘But now I will not [fn]treat the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ declares Yahweh of hosts.

Zec 8:12

Zec 8:12‘For there will be peace for the seed: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

Zec 8:13

Zec 8:13‘And it will be that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you that you may become a blessing. Do not fear; let your hands be strong.’

Zec 8:14

“For thus^H3541 says^H559 Yahweh^H3068 of hosts^H6635, ‘Just^H834 as I purposed^H2161 to bring^H7489 about evil^H7489 to you when your fathers^H1 provoked^H7107 Me to^H7107 wrath^H7107,’ says^H559 Yahweh^H3068 of hosts^H6635, ‘and I have not relented^H5162,

Zec 8:15

Zec 8:15so I have again purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not fear!

Zec 8:16

Zec 8:16‘These are the things which you should do: speak the truth to one another; judge with truth and judgment for peace in your [fn]gates.

Zec 8:17

Zec 8:17‘Also let none of you devise evil in your heart against another, and do not love [fn]false oaths; for all these are what I hate,’ declares Yahweh.”

Zec 8:18

Then the word^H1697 of Yahweh^H3068 of hosts^H6635 came^H1961 to me, saying^H559,

Zec 8:19

Zec 8:19“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘The fast of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth months will become joy, gladness, and [fn]merry appointed feasts for the house of Judah; so love truth and peace.’

Zec 8:20

“Thus^H3541 says^H559 Yahweh^H3068 of hosts^H6635, ‘It will yet^H5750 be that peoples^H5971 will come^H935, even the inhabitants^H3427 of many^H7227 cities^H5892.

Zec 8:21

Zec 8:21‘The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to [fn]entreat the favor of Yahweh and to seek Yahweh of hosts; [fn]I will also go.”

Zec 8:22

Zec 8:22‘So many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem and to [fn]entreat the favor of Yahweh.’

Zec 8:23

Zec 8:23“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from every tongue of the nations will [fn]take hold of the [fn]garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’”
