A Man with a Measuring Cord

[fn]Then I lifted^H5375 up^H5375 my eyes^H5869 and saw^H7200, and behold^H2009, there was a man^H376 with a measuring^H4060 cord^H2256 in his hand^H3027.

Zec 2:2

Zec 2:2So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.”

Zec 2:3

Zec 2:3And behold, the angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him

Zec 2:4

Zec 2:4and said to him, “Run, speak to that young man, saying, ‘Jerusalem will be inhabited [fn]without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it.

Zec 2:5

Zec 2:5‘Indeed I,’ declares Yahweh, ‘will be a wall of fire [fn]around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”

Zec 2:6

“[fn]Ho^H1945 there^H1945! Flee^H5127 from the land^H776 of the north^H6828,” declares^H5002 Yahweh^H3068, “for I have dispersed^H6566 you as the four^H702 winds^H7307 of the heavens^H8064,” declares^H5002 Yahweh^H3068.

Zec 2:7

Zec 2:7“Woe, Zion! Escape, you who are living with the daughter of Babylon.”

Zec 2:8

Zec 2:8For thus says Yahweh of hosts, “After [fn]glory He has sent Me against the nations which have taken you as spoil, for he who touches you, touches the [fn]apple of His eye.

Zec 2:9

Zec 2:9“For behold, I will wave My hand over them so that they will be spoil for their slaves. Then you will know that Yahweh of hosts has sent Me.

Zec 2:10

Zec 2:10“Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” declares Yahweh.

Zec 2:11

Zec 2:11“And many nations will join themselves to Yahweh in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that Yahweh of hosts has sent Me to you.
