Psalm 2 :: Legacy Standard Bible (LSB)

The Reign of Yahweh’s Anointed

Psa 2:1

Why do the [fn]nations rage

And the peoples meditate on a vain thing?

Psa 2:2

The kings of the earth take their stand

And the rulers take counsel together

Against Yahweh and against His [fn]Anointed, saying,

Psa 2:3

“Let us tear their fetters apart

And cast away their cords from us!”

Psa 2:4

He who [fn]sits in the heavens laughs,

The Lord mocks them.

Psa 2:5

Then He speaks to them in His anger

And terrifies them in His fury, saying,

Psa 2:6

“But as for Me, I have [fn]installed My King

Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”

Psa 2:7

“I will surely tell of the [fn]decree of Yahweh:

He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,

Today I have begotten You.

Psa 2:8

‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the [fn]nations as Your inheritance,

And the ends of the earth as Your possession.

Psa 2:9

‘You shall [fn]break them with a [fn]rod of iron,

You shall shatter them like a potter’s vessel.’”

Psa 2:10

So now, O kings, show insight;

Take warning, O [fn]judges of the earth.

Psa 2:11

Serve Yahweh with fear

And rejoice with trembling.

Psa 2:12

[fn]Kiss the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way,

For His [fn]wrath may [fn]soon be kindled.

How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
