Psalm 104 :: Legacy Standard Bible (LSB)

The Glory of Yahweh Endures Forever

(cf. Gen 1:1–31 )
Psa 104:1

Bless Yahweh, O my soul!

O Yahweh my God, You are very great;

You are clothed with splendor and majesty,

Psa 104:2

Wrapping Yourself with light as with a cloak,

Stretching out the heavens like a tent curtain.

Psa 104:3

[fn]He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters;

[fn]He sets up the clouds to be His chariot;

[fn]He walks upon the wings of the wind;

Psa 104:4

[fn]He makes His [fn]angels the winds,

His ministers flaming fire.

Psa 104:5

He founded the earth upon its place,

So that it will not [fn]shake forever and ever.

Psa 104:6

You covered it with the deep as with a garment;

The waters were standing above the mountains.

Psa 104:7

At Your rebuke they fled,

At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away in alarm.

Psa 104:8

The mountains went up; the valleys went down

To the place which You founded for them.

Psa 104:9

You set a boundary that they may not pass over,

So that they will not return to cover the earth.

Psa 104:10

[fn]He sends forth springs in the valleys;

They flow between the mountains;

Psa 104:11

They give water to every beast of the field;

The wild donkeys quench their thirst.

Psa 104:12

Above them the birds of the heavens dwell;

They give forth their voices among the branches.

Psa 104:13

[fn]He gives water to the mountains from His upper chambers;

The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.

Psa 104:14

[fn]He causes the grass to grow for the [fn]cattle,

And vegetation for man’s [fn]cultivation,

To bring forth [fn]food from the earth,

Psa 104:15

And wine which makes man’s heart glad,

To make his face glisten more than oil,

And [fn]food which sustains man’s heart.

Psa 104:16

The trees of Yahweh are satisfied,

The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,

Psa 104:17

Where the birds build their nests,

The stork’s home is in the [fn]fir trees.

Psa 104:18

The high mountains are for the wild goats;

The cliffs are a refuge for the [fn]shephanim.

Psa 104:19

He made the moon for the seasons;

The sun knows the place of its setting.

Psa 104:20

You appoint darkness so that it becomes night,

In which all the beasts of the forest creep about.

Psa 104:21

The young lions roar to go after their prey

And to seek their food from God.

Psa 104:22

When the sun rises they gather together

And lie down in their dens.

Psa 104:23

Man goes forth to his work

And to his labor until evening.

Psa 104:24

How numerous are Your works, O Yahweh!

[fn]In wisdom You have made them all;

The earth is full of Your [fn]possessions.

Psa 104:25

This is the sea, great and [fn]broad,

There the creeping things are without number,

Creatures both small and great.

Psa 104:26

There the ships move along,

And [fn]Leviathan, which You have formed to play in it.

Psa 104:27

They all wait for You

To give them their food in [fn]due season.

Psa 104:28

You give to them, they gather it up;

You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.

Psa 104:29

You hide Your face, they are dismayed;

You take away their [fn]spirit, they breathe their last

And return to their dust.

Psa 104:30

You send forth Your [fn]Spirit, they are created;

And You renew the face of the ground.

Psa 104:31

Let the glory of Yahweh endure forever;

Let Yahweh be glad in His works;

Psa 104:32

[fn]He looks at the earth, and it trembles;

He touches the mountains, and they smoke.

Psa 104:33

[fn]I will sing to Yahweh throughout my life;

[fn]I will sing praise to my God [fn]while I have my being.

Psa 104:34

Let my musing be pleasing to Him;

As for me, I shall be glad in Yahweh.

Psa 104:35

Let sinners be consumed from the earth

And let the wicked be no more.

Bless Yahweh, O my soul.

[fn]Praise Yah!
