Christ’s Humility and Exaltation

Therefore^G3767 if^G1487 there is any^G5100 encouragement^G3874 in Christ^G5547, if^G1487 there is any^G5100 consolation^G3890 of love^G26, if^G1487 there is any^G5100 fellowship^G2842 of the Spirit^G4151, if^G1487 any^G5100 [fn]affection^G4698 and compassion^G3628,

Phl 2:2

Phl 2:2fulfill my joy, that you think the same way, by maintaining the same love, being united in spirit, thinking on one purpose,

Phl 2:3

Phl 2:3doing nothing [fn]from [fn]selfish ambition or vain glory, but with humility of mind regarding one another as more important than yourselves,

Phl 2:4

Phl 2:4not merely looking out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Phl 2:5

Phl 2:5Have this way of thinking [fn]in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

Phl 2:6

Phl 2:6who, although existing in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing [fn]to be grasped,

Phl 2:7

Phl 2:7but [fn]emptied Himself, by taking the form of a slave, by being made in the likeness of men.

Phl 2:8

Phl 2:8Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death [fn]on a cross.

Phl 2:9

Phl 2:9Therefore, God also highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,

Phl 2:10

Phl 2:10so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Phl 2:11

Phl 2:11and that EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS that Jesus Christ is [fn]LORD, to the glory of God the Father.

Phl 2:12

So^G5620 then^G5620, my beloved^G27, just^G2531 as you have always^G3842 obeyed^G5219, not as in my presence^G3952 only^G3440, but now^G3568 much^G4183 more^G3123 in my absence^G666, work^G2716 out^G2716 your salvation^G4991 with fear^G5401 and trembling^G5156;

Phl 2:13

Phl 2:13for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Phl 2:14

Do^G4160 all^G3956 things^G3956 without^G5565 grumbling^G1112 or^G2532 disputing^G1261,

Phl 2:15

Phl 2:15so that you will be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as [fn]lights in the world,

Phl 2:16

Phl 2:16holding [fn]fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to boast because I did not run in vain nor labor in vain.

Phl 2:17

Phl 2:17But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.

Phl 2:18

Phl 2:18And you also, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.

Timothy and Epaphroditus Sent

Phl 2:19

But I hope^G1679 in the Lord^G2962 Jesus^G2424 to send^G3992 Timothy^G5095 to you shortly^G5030, so^G2443 that I also^G2532 may be^G2174 in^G2174 good^G2174 spirits^G2174 when I learn^G1097 of your circumstances^G3588^G4012.

Phl 2:20

Phl 2:20For I have no one else of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned about your circumstances.

Phl 2:21

Phl 2:21For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.

Phl 2:22

Phl 2:22But you know of his proven worth, that he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel like a child serving his father.

Phl 2:23

Phl 2:23Therefore I hope to send him immediately, as soon as I [fn]evaluate my own circumstances,

Phl 2:24

Phl 2:24and I am confident in the Lord that I myself also will be coming shortly.

Phl 2:25

Phl 2:25But I regarded it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your [fn]messenger and minister to my need;

Phl 2:26

Phl 2:26because he was longing [fn]for you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick.

Phl 2:27

Phl 2:27For indeed he was sick to the point of death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow.

Phl 2:28
