Miriam and Aaron Speak Against Moses

Then Miriam^H4813 and Aaron^H175 spoke^H1696 against Moses^H4872 because^H5921^H182 of the Cushite^H3571 woman^H802 whom^H834 he had taken^H3947 as a wife (for he had taken^H3947 a Cushite^H3571 woman^H802);

Num 12:2

Num 12:2and they said, “Has Yahweh indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?” And Yahweh heard it.

Num 12:3

Num 12:3(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.)

Num 12:4

Num 12:4Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, “You three come out to the tent of meeting.” So the three of them came out.

Num 12:5

Num 12:5Then Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the doorway of the tent, and He called [fn]Aaron and Miriam. And then both came forward,

Num 12:6

Num 12:6and He said,

“Hear^H8085 now^H4994 My words^H1697:

If^H518 there is a prophet^H5030 among you,

I, Yahweh^H3068, shall make^H3045 Myself known^H3045 to him in a vision^H4759.

I shall speak^H1696 with him in a dream^H2472.

Num 12:7

“Not so^H3651, with My servant^H5650 Moses^H4872,

He is faithful^H539 in all^H3605 My household^H1004;

Num 12:8

With him I speak^H1696 mouth^H6310 to mouth^H6310,

Indeed clearly^H4758, and not in riddles^H2420,

And he beholds^H5027 the form^H8544 of Yahweh^H3068.

Why^H4069 then were^H3372 you not afraid^H3372

To speak^H1696 against My servant^H5650, against Moses^H4872?”

Num 12:9

So the anger^H639 of Yahweh^H3068 burned^H2734 against them, and He went^H1980 away.

Num 12:10

Num 12:10But the cloud withdrew from over the tent, and behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. And Aaron turned toward Miriam, and behold, she was leprous.

Num 12:11

Num 12:11Then Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, I beg you, do not place this sin on us, in which we have acted foolishly and in which we have sinned.

Num 12:12

Num 12:12“Oh, do not let her be like one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes from his mother’s womb!”

Num 12:13

Num 12:13And Moses cried out to Yahweh, saying, “O God, heal her, I pray!”

Num 12:14

Num 12:14But Yahweh said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not bear her dishonor for seven days? Let her be shut up for seven days outside the camp, and afterward she may be received again.”

Num 12:15

Num 12:15So Miriam was shut up outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not set out until Miriam was received again.

Num 12:16

Afterward^H310, however, the people^H5971 set^H5265 out^H5265 from Hazeroth^H2698 and camped^H2583 in the wilderness^H4057 of Paran^H6290.
