Jesus Appoints the Twelve

Mat 10:2

The Twelve Disciples Sent Out

Mat 10:5

Mat 10:6

Mat 10:6but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Mat 10:8“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

Mat 10:11

Mat 10:11“And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay there until you leave.

Mat 10:13

Mat 10:13“And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Mat 10:14

Mat 10:14“And whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you leave that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet.

Mat 10:15

Mat 10:15“Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

The Promise of Persecution

Mat 10:16

Mat 10:17

Mat 10:17“But beware of men, for they will deliver you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues;

Mat 10:18

Mat 10:18and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

Mat 10:19

Mat 10:19“But when they deliver you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given to you in that hour what you are to say.

Mat 10:20

Mat 10:20“For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

Mat 10:21

Mat 10:22

Mat 10:22“And you will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

Mat 10:23

“But whenever^G3752 they persecute^G1377 you in this^G3778 city^G4172, flee^G5343 to [fn]the next^G2087; for truly^G281 I say^G3004 to you, you will not finish^G5055 going through the cities^G4172 of Israel^G2474 until^G2193 the Son^G5207 of Man^G444 comes^G2064.

The Meaning of Discipleship

Mat 10:24

“A [fn]disciple^G3101 is not above^G5228 his teacher^G1320, nor^G3761 a slave^G1401 above^G5228 his master^G2962.

Mat 10:25

Mat 10:25“It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house [fn]Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!

Mat 10:26

“Therefore^G3767 do not fear^G5399 them, for there is nothing^G3762 concealed^G2572 that will not be revealed^G601, and^G2532 hidden^G2927 that will not be known^G1097.

Mat 10:27

Mat 10:27“What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.

Mat 10:28

Mat 10:28“And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in [fn]hell.

Mat 10:29

Mat 10:29“Are not two sparrows sold for an [fn]assarion? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.

Mat 10:30

Mat 10:30“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Mat 10:35

Mat 10:35“For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW;

Mat 10:36

Mat 10:36and A MAN’S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD.

Mat 10:37

Mat 10:38

Mat 10:38“And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Mat 10:39

Mat 10:39“He who has found his [fn]life will lose it, and he who has lost his [fn]life for My sake will find it.

The Reward of Service

Mat 10:40

“He who receives^G1209 you receives^G1209 Me, and he who receives^G1209 Me receives^G1209 Him who sent^G649 Me.

Mat 10:41

Mat 10:41“He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

Mat 10:42

Mat 10:42“And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these [fn]little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
