Jesus Is Risen!

(Mat 28:1–10; Mar 16:1–8; Jhn 20:1–10 )

Now on the first^G1520 day of the week^G4521, at early^G3722 dawn^G3722, they came^G2064 to the tomb^G3418 bringing^G5342 the spices^G759 which^G3739 they had prepared^G2090.

Luk 24:2

Luk 24:2And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,

Luk 24:3

Luk 24:3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

Luk 24:4

Luk 24:4And it happened that while they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing,

Luk 24:5

Luk 24:5and when the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?

Luk 24:6

Luk 24:6“He is not here, but He has [fn]risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee,

Luk 24:7

Luk 24:7saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”

Luk 24:8

Luk 24:8And they remembered His words,

Luk 24:9

Luk 24:9and when they returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

Luk 24:10

Luk 24:10Now Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the rest of the women with them were there; they were telling these things to the apostles.

Luk 24:11

Luk 24:11But these words appeared [fn]to them as nonsense, and they were not believing them.

Luk 24:12

Luk 24:12But Peter stood up and ran to the tomb; and stooping to look in, he *saw the linen wrappings [fn]only. And he went away by himself, marveling at what had happened.

The Road to Emmaus

(Mar 16:12, 13 )

Luk 24:13

And behold^G2400, two^G1417 of them were going^G4198 that same^G846 day^G2250 to a village^G2968 named^G3686 Emmaus^G1695, which was [fn]sixty^G1835 stadia^G4712 from Jerusalem^G2419.

Luk 24:14

Luk 24:14And they were conversing with each other about all these things which had happened.

Luk 24:15

Luk 24:15And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus Himself approached and was going with them.

Luk 24:16

Luk 24:16But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.

Luk 24:17

Luk 24:17And He said to them, “What are these words that you are discussing with one another as you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad.

Luk 24:18

Luk 24:18And one of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You [fn]the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?”

Luk 24:19

Luk 24:19And He said to them, “What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a mighty prophet in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,

Luk 24:20

Luk 24:20and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him.

Luk 24:21

Luk 24:21“But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened.

Luk 24:22

Luk 24:22“But also some women among us astounded us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning,

Luk 24:23

Luk 24:23and not finding His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive.

Luk 24:24

Luk 24:24“Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also said, but Him they did not see.”

Luk 24:25

Luk 24:25And He said to them, “O foolish ones and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

Luk 24:26

Luk 24:26“Was it not necessary for the [fn]Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?”

Luk 24:27

Luk 24:27Then beginning [fn]with Moses and [fn]with all the prophets, He interpreted to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.

Luk 24:28

And they approached^G1448 the village^G2968 where^G3757 they were going^G4198, and He acted^G4364 as^G4364 though^G4364 He were going^G4198 farther^G4206.

Luk 24:29

Luk 24:29But they urged Him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening, and the day [fn]is now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them.

Luk 24:30

Luk 24:30And it happened that when He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and after breaking it, He was giving it to them.

Luk 24:31

Luk 24:31Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him. And He vanished from [fn]their sight.

Luk 24:32

Luk 24:32And they said to one another, “[fn]Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was opening the Scriptures to us?”

Luk 24:33

Luk 24:33And they stood up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those with them,

Luk 24:34

Luk 24:34who were saying, “The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon.”

Luk 24:35

Luk 24:35And they were relating [fn]their experiences on the road and how He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

(Jhn 20:19–23; Act 1:3–5; 1Co 15:5 )

Luk 24:36

Now while they were telling^G2980 these^G3778 things^G3778, He Himself^G846 stood^G2476 in their midst^G3319 and *said^G3004 to them, “Peace^G1515 to you.”

Luk 24:37

Luk 24:37But being startled and frightened, they were thinking that they were seeing a spirit.

Luk 24:38

Luk 24:38And He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your [fn]hearts?

Luk 24:39

Luk 24:39“See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”

Luk 24:40

Luk 24:40And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.

Luk 24:41

Luk 24:41And while they still were not believing because of their joy and were still marveling, He said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”

Luk 24:42

Luk 24:42They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish,

Luk 24:43

Luk 24:43and He took it and ate it before them.

Luk 24:44

Now^G1161 He said^G3004 to them, “These^G3778 are My words^G3056 which^G3739 I spoke^G2980 to you while I was still^G2089 with you, that all^G3956 things^G3956 which are written^G1125 about^G4012 Me in the Law^G3551 of Moses^G3475 and the Prophets^G4396 and the Psalms^G5568 must^G1163 be fulfilled^G4137.”
