Repent or Perish

Now^G1161 at that same^G846 time^G2540 there were some^G5100 present^G3918 who were reporting^G518 to Him about^G4012 the Galileans^G1057 whose^G3739 blood^G129 Pilate^G4091 had [fn]mixed^G3396 with their sacrifices^G2378.

Luk 13:2

Luk 13:2And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered these things?

Luk 13:3

Luk 13:3“I tell you, no, but unless you [fn]repent, you will all likewise perish.

Luk 13:4

Luk 13:4“Or do you think that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse [fn]offenders than all the men who live in Jerusalem?

Luk 13:5

Luk 13:5“I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree

Luk 13:6

And He was telling^G3004 this^G3778 parable^G3850: “A man^G5100 had^G2192 a fig^G4808 tree^G4808 which had been planted^G5452 in his vineyard^G290; and he came^G2064 seeking^G2212 fruit^G2590 on it and did not find^G2147 any.

Luk 13:7

Luk 13:7“And he said to the vineyard-keeper, ‘Behold, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree [fn]without finding any. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?’

Luk 13:8

Luk 13:8“And he answered and said to him, ‘Let it alone, sir, for this year too, until I dig around it and put in manure,

Luk 13:9

Luk 13:9and if it bears fruit next year, fine, but if not, cut it down.’”

A Woman Healed on the Sabbath

Luk 13:10

And He was teaching^G1321 in one^G1520 of the synagogues^G4864 on the Sabbath^G4521.

Luk 13:11

Luk 13:11And behold, there was a woman who for eighteen years had [fn]a sickness caused by a spirit, and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all.

Luk 13:12

Luk 13:12But when Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.”

Luk 13:13

Luk 13:13And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God.

Luk 13:14

Luk 13:14But the synagogue official, indignant because Jesus healed on the Sabbath, answered and was saying to the crowd, “There are six days in which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”

Luk 13:15

Luk 13:15But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath release his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead it away to water it?

Luk 13:16

Luk 13:16“And this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound for—behold—eighteen years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?”

Luk 13:17

Luk 13:17And as He said this, all His opponents were being put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.

The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Leaven

Luk 13:18

Luk 13:19

Luk 13:19“It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden, and it grew and became a tree, and THE BIRDS OF THE [fn]AIR NESTED IN ITS BRANCHES.”

Luk 13:21

Luk 13:21“It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in [fn]three sata of flour until it was all leavened.”

The Narrow Door

Luk 13:22

And He was passing^G1279 through^G1279 from one city^G4172 and village^G2968 to another^G2596, teaching^G1321, and proceeding^G4160 on His way^G4197 to Jerusalem^G2414.

Luk 13:23

Luk 13:23And someone said to Him, “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” And He said to them,

Luk 13:24

Luk 13:24“Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

Luk 13:25

Luk 13:25“Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.’

Luk 13:26

Luk 13:26“Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’

Luk 13:27

Luk 13:27“And He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU WORKERS OF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.’

Luk 13:28

Luk 13:28“In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being cast out.

Luk 13:29

Luk 13:29“And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.

Luk 13:30

Luk 13:30“And behold, some are last who will be first and some are first who will be last.”

Lament over Jerusalem

Luk 13:31

Just^G846 at that time^G5610 some^G5100 Pharisees^G5330 approached^G4334, saying^G3004 to Him, “Leave^G1831 and go^G4198 from here^G1782, for Herod^G2264 wants^G2309 to kill^G615 You.”

Luk 13:32

Luk 13:32And He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I [fn]finish.’

Luk 13:33

Luk 13:33“Nevertheless I must journey on today and tomorrow and the next day, for it is not possible that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.

Luk 13:34

Luk 13:34“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you did not want it!

Luk 13:35

Luk 13:35“Behold, your house is left to you desolate, and I say to you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE [fn]LORD!’”
