Fear Only God

(Mat 10:26, 27 )

At^G1722 this^G3739 time^G1722, after [fn]so many^G3461 thousands^G3461 of the crowd^G3793 had gathered^G1996 together^G1996 that they were trampling^G2662 on^G2662 one^G240 another^G240, He began^G757 saying^G3004 to His disciples^G3101 first^G4413, “Be^G4337 on^G4337 your^G4337 guard^G4337 for the leaven^G2219 of the Pharisees^G5330, which^G3748 is hypocrisy^G5272.

Luk 12:2

Luk 12:2“But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.

Luk 12:3

Luk 12:3“Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have [fn]whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Luk 12:4

“But I say^G3004 to you, My friends^G5384, do not fear^G5399 those^G3588 who kill^G615 the body^G4983 and after^G3326 that have^G2192 no^G3361^G5100 more^G4057 that they can do^G4160.

Luk 12:5

Luk 12:5“But I will show you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into [fn]hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!

Luk 12:6

Luk 12:6“Are not five sparrows sold for two [fn]assaria? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.

Luk 12:7

Luk 12:7“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

(Mat 10:32, 33 )

Luk 12:8

“And I say^G3004 to you, everyone^G3956 who^G3739 confesses^G3670 Me before^G1715 men^G444, the Son^G5207 of Man^G444 will confess^G3670 him also^G2532 before^G1715 the angels^G32 of God^G2316,

Luk 12:9

Luk 12:9but he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

Luk 12:10

Luk 12:10“And everyone who [fn]speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him, but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.

Luk 12:11

Luk 12:11“Now when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say,

Luk 12:12

Luk 12:12for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Parable of the Rich Fool

Luk 12:13

And someone^G5100 from the crowd^G3793 said^G3004 to Him, “Teacher^G1320, tell^G3004 my brother^G80 to divide^G3307 the family inheritance^G2817 with me.”

Luk 12:14

Luk 12:14But He said to him, “Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?”

Luk 12:15

Luk 12:15Then He said to them, “Watch out and be on your guard against every form of greed, for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.”

Luk 12:16

Luk 12:16And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive.

Luk 12:17

Luk 12:17“And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’

Luk 12:18

Luk 12:18“Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

Luk 12:19

Luk 12:19‘And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’

Luk 12:20

Luk 12:20“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night [fn]your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you prepared?’

Luk 12:21

Luk 12:21“So is the one who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Do Not Worry

(Mat 6:19–21, 25–34 )

Luk 12:22

And He said^G3004 to His disciples^G3101, “For this^G3778 reason^G1223 I say^G3004 to you, [fn]do not worry^G3309 about^G3588 your [fn]life^G5590, as to what^G5101 you will eat^G2068; nor^G3366 for your body^G4983, as to what^G5101 you will put^G1746 on.

Luk 12:23

Luk 12:23“For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.

Luk 12:24

Luk 12:24“Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!

Luk 12:25

Luk 12:25“And which of you by worrying can add a single [fn]cubit to his [fn]life span?

Luk 12:26

Luk 12:26“Therefore, if you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?

Luk 12:27

Luk 12:27“Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

Luk 12:28

Luk 12:28“But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You of little faith!

Luk 12:29

Luk 12:29“And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying.

Luk 12:30

Luk 12:30“For [fn]all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek, but your Father knows that you need these things.

Luk 12:31

Luk 12:31“But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

Luk 12:32

Luk 12:32“Do not fear, little flock, for your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom.

Luk 12:33

“Sell^G4453 your possessions^G5225 and give^G1325 it as charity^G1654; make^G4160 yourselves^G1438 money^G905 belts^G905 which do not wear^G3822 out^G3822, an unfailing^G413 treasure^G2344 in heaven^G3772, where^G3699 no^G3756 thief^G2812 comes^G1448 near^G1448 nor^G3761 moth^G4597 destroys^G1311.

Luk 12:34

Luk 12:34“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Be Ready for His Coming

Luk 12:35

Luk 12:36

Luk 12:36“And be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.

Luk 12:37

Luk 12:37“Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find awake when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them.

Luk 12:38

Luk 12:38“Whether he comes in the [fn]second watch, or even in the [fn]third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.

Luk 12:39

Luk 12:40

Luk 12:40“You too, be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not [fn]expect.”

Luk 12:41

Now Peter^G4074 said^G3004, “Lord^G2962, are You addressing^G3004 this^G3778 parable^G3850 to us, or^G2228 to everyone^G3956 else as well^G2532?”

Luk 12:42

Luk 12:42And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and prudent steward, whom his master will put in charge of his [fn]servants, to give them their rations at the proper time?

Luk 12:43

Luk 12:43“Blessed is that slave whom his [fn]master finds so doing when he comes.

Luk 12:44

Luk 12:44“Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

Luk 12:45

Luk 12:45“But if that slave says in his heart, ‘My master [fn]will be a long time in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,

Luk 12:46

Luk 12:46the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and assign him a place with the unbelievers.

Luk 12:47

Luk 12:47“And that slave who knew his master’s will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, will receive many beatings,

Luk 12:48

Luk 12:48but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a beating, will receive but a few. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required, and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.

Not Peace, but Division

(Mat 10:34–39 )

Luk 12:49

“I [fn]have come^G2064 to cast^G906 fire^G4442 upon the earth^G1093, and [fn]how^G5101 I wish^G2309 it were already^G2235 kindled^G381!

Luk 12:50

Luk 12:50“But I have a baptism to [fn]undergo, and how distressed I am until it is finished!

Luk 12:51

Luk 12:51“Do you think that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division;

Luk 12:52

Luk 12:52for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.

Luk 12:53

Luk 12:53“They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Luk 12:54

Luk 12:55

Luk 12:55“And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, ‘It will be a hot day,’ and it happens.

Luk 12:56

Luk 12:56“You hypocrites! You know how to examine the appearance of the earth and the sky, but [fn]why do you not examine this present time?

Luk 12:57

“And why^G5101 do you not even^G2532 judge^G2919 for^G575 yourselves^G1438 what^G3588 is right^G1342?

Luk 12:58

Luk 12:58“For while you are going with your opponent to appear before the magistrate, on your way there make an effort to [fn]settle with him, so that he may not drag you before the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
