Ephraim’s Inheritance

Then the lot^H1486 for the sons^H1121 of Joseph^H3130 went^H3318 out^H3318 from the Jordan^H3383 at Jericho^H3405 to the waters^H4325 of Jericho^H3405 on the east^H4217 into the wilderness^H4057, going^H5927 up^H5927 from Jericho^H3405 through the hill^H2022 country^H2022 to Bethel^H1008.

Jos 16:2

Jos 16:2And it went out from Bethel to Luz and passed on to the border of the Archites at Ataroth.

Jos 16:3

Jos 16:3Then it went down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the territory of lower Beth-horon even to Gezer, and [fn]it ended at the sea.

Jos 16:4

So the sons^H1121 of Joseph^H3130, Manasseh^H4519 and Ephraim^H669, received^H5157 their inheritance^H5157.

Jos 16:5

Jos 16:5Now this was the territory of the sons of Ephraim according to their families: the border of their inheritance eastward was Ataroth-addar, as far as upper Beth-horon.

Jos 16:6

Jos 16:6Then the border went westward at Michmethath on the north, and the border turned about eastward to Taanath-shiloh and passed on beyond it to the east of Janoah.

Jos 16:7

Jos 16:7And it went down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah and reached Jericho and came out at the Jordan.

Jos 16:8

Jos 16:8From Tappuah the border continued westward to the [fn]brook of Kanah, and [fn]it ended at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim according to their families,

Jos 16:9

Jos 16:9together with the cities which were set apart for the sons of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

Jos 16:10

Jos 16:10But they did not dispossess the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites live in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and they became forced laborers.
