“Lift ^H5375 up ^H5375 your eyes ^H5869 to the bare ^H8205 heights ^H8205 and see ^H7200;

Where ^H375 have you not been ravished ^H7693?

By the roads ^H1870 you have sat ^H3427 for them

Like [fn]an Arab ^H6163 in the wilderness ^H4057,

And you have polluted ^H2610 a land ^H776

With your harlotry ^H2183 and with your evil ^H7451.

“Therefore the showers ^H7241 have been withheld ^H4513,

And the [fn]late ^H4456 rain ^H4456 has not ^H3808 [fn]come ^H1961.

Yet you had ^H1961 a harlot’s ^H802 H2181 forehead ^H4696;

You refused ^H3985 to feel ^H3637 dishonor ^H3637.

“Have you not just now ^H6258 called ^H7121 to Me,

‘My Father ^H1, You are the [fn]close ^H441 companion ^H441 of my youth ^H5271?

‘Will He be ^H5201 angry ^H5201 forever ^H5769?

Will He keep ^H8104 it to the end ^H5331?’

Behold ^H2009, you have spoken ^H1696

And have done ^H6213 evil ^H7451 things ^H7451,

And you have [fn]had ^H3201 your way ^H3201.”

Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to me in the days ^H3117 of Josiah ^H2977 the king ^H4428, “Have you seen ^H7200 what ^H834 faithless ^H4878 Israel ^H3478 did ^H6213? She went ^H1980 up on every ^H3605 high ^H1364 hill ^H2022 and under ^H8478 every ^H3605 green ^H7488 tree ^H6086, and she was a harlot ^H2181 there ^H8033.

And Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to me, “Faithless ^H4878 Israel ^H3478 has proved ^H6663 herself ^H5315 more ^H4480 righteous ^H6663 than ^H4480 treacherous ^H898 Judah ^H3063.

‘[fn]Return ^H7725, faithless ^H4878 Israel ^H3478,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068;

‘I will not [fn]look ^H5307 upon you in ^H5307 anger ^H5307.

For I am One ^H2623 of ^H2623 lovingkindness ^H2623,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068;

‘I will not be ^H5201 angry ^H5201 forever ^H5769.

‘Only ^H389 [fn]acknowledge ^H3045 your iniquity ^H5771,

That you have transgressed ^H6586 against Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430

And have scattered ^H6340 your ways ^H1870 of harlotry to the strangers ^H2114 under ^H8478 every ^H3605 green ^H7488 tree ^H6086,

And you have not listened ^H8085 to My voice ^H6963,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068.

‘[fn]Return ^H7725, O faithless ^H7726 sons ^H1121,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068;

‘For I am ^H1166 a ^H1166 master ^H1166 to you,

And I will take ^H3947 you one ^H259 from a city ^H5892 and two ^H8147 from a family ^H4940,

And I will bring ^H935 you to Zion ^H6726.’

“Then I will give ^H5414 you shepherds ^H7462 after My own heart ^H3820, who will [fn]shepherd ^H7462 you on knowledge ^H1844 and understanding ^H7919.

“Then I said ^H559,

‘How ^H349 I would set ^H7896 you among [fn]My sons ^H1121

And give ^H5414 you a pleasant ^H2532 land ^H776,

The most ^H6643 beautiful ^H6643 inheritance ^H5159 of the nations ^H1471!’

And I said ^H559, ‘You shall call ^H7121 Me, “My Father ^H1,”

And not turn ^H7725 away ^H7725 from following ^H310 Me.’

“Surely ^H403, as a woman ^H802 treacherously ^H898 departs from her [fn]lover ^H7453,

So ^H3651 you have dealt ^H898 treacherously ^H898 with Me,

O house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478,” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068.

A voice ^H6963 is heard ^H8085 on the bare ^H8205 heights ^H8205,

The weeping ^H1065 and the supplications ^H8469 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478;

Because ^H3588 they have perverted ^H5753 their way ^H1870,

They have forgotten ^H7911 Yahweh ^H3068 their God ^H430.

[fn]“Return ^H7725, O faithless ^H7726 sons ^H1121;

I will heal ^H7495 your faithlessness ^H4878.”

“Behold ^H2009, we come ^H857 to You,

For You are Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430.

“Surely ^H403, the hills ^H1389 are a lie ^H8267,

A tumult ^H1995 on the mountains ^H2022.

Surely ^H403 in Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430

Is the salvation ^H8668 of Israel ^H3478.

“But the shameful ^H1322 thing ^H1322 has devoured ^H398 the labor ^H3018 of our fathers ^H1 since ^H4480 our youth ^H5271, their flocks ^H6629 and their herds ^H1241, their sons ^H1121 and their daughters ^H1323.
