Now it happened in the same^H1931 year^H8141, in the beginning^H7225 of the reign^H4467 of Zedekiah^H6667 king^H4428 of Judah^H3063, in the fourth^H7243 year^H8141, in the fifth^H2549 month^H2320, that Hananiah^H2608 the son^H1121 of Azzur^H5809, the prophet^H5030, who^H834 was from Gibeon^H1391, spoke^H559 to me in the house^H1004 of Yahweh^H3068 in the sight^H5869 of the priests^H3548 and all^H3605 the people^H5971, saying^H559,

Jer 28:2

Jer 28:2“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

Jer 28:3

Jer 28:3‘Within two years I am going to return to this place all the vessels of the house of Yahweh, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.

Jer 28:4

Jer 28:4‘I am also going to return to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares Yahweh, ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’”

Then the prophet^H5030 Jeremiah^H3414 spoke^H559 to the prophet^H5030 Hananiah^H2608 in the sight^H5869 of the priests^H3548 and in the sight^H5869 of all^H3605 the people^H5971 who were standing^H5975 in the house^H1004 of Yahweh^H3068,

Jer 28:6

Jer 28:6and the prophet Jeremiah said, “Amen! May Yahweh do so; may Yahweh establish your words which you have prophesied to return the vessels of the house of Yahweh and all the exiles, from Babylon to this place.

Jer 28:7

Jer 28:7“Yet hear now this word which I am about to speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people!

Jer 28:8

Jer 28:8“The prophets who were before me and before you from ancient times prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms, of war and of calamity and of pestilence.

Jer 28:9

Jer 28:9“The prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom Yahweh has truly sent.”

Then Hananiah^H2608 the prophet^H5030 took^H3947 the bar^H4133 of the yoke^H4133 from the neck^H6677 of Jeremiah^H3414 the prophet^H5030 and broke^H7665 it.

Jer 28:11

Jer 28:11And Hananiah spoke in the sight of all the people, saying, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Even so will I break within two full years the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all the nations.’” Then the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

Then the word^H1697 of Yahweh^H3068 came^H1961 to Jeremiah^H3414 after^H310 Hananiah^H2608 the prophet^H5030 had broken^H7665 the bar^H2812 of the yoke^H4133 from off^H5921 the neck^H6677 of the prophet^H5030 Jeremiah^H3414, saying^H559,

Jer 28:13

Jer 28:13“Go and speak to Hananiah, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “You have broken the bars of a yoke made of wood, but you have made in their place the bars of a yoke made of iron.”

Jer 28:14

Jer 28:14‘For thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they will serve him. And I have even given him the beasts of the field.”’”

Jer 28:15

Jer 28:15Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen now, Hananiah, Yahweh has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie.

Jer 28:16

Jer 28:16“Therefore thus says Yahweh, ‘Behold, I am about to [fn]remove you from the face of the earth. This year you are going to die because you have spoken rebellion against Yahweh.’”
