“Contend ^H7378 with your mother ^H517, contend ^H7378,

For she is not my wife ^H802, and I am not her husband ^H376;

And let her remove ^H5493 her harlotry ^H2183 from her face ^H6440

And her adultery ^H5005 from between ^H996 her breasts ^H7699,

Lest ^H6435 I strip ^H6584 her naked ^H6174

And set ^H3322 her forth as on the day ^H3117 when she was born ^H3205

And make ^H7760 her like a wilderness ^H4057

And [fn]make ^H7896 her like dry ^H6723 land ^H776

And put ^H4191 her to ^H4191 death ^H4191 with thirst ^H6772.

“Also, I will have ^H7355 no ^H3808 compassion ^H7355 on ^H7355 her children ^H1121

Because ^H3588 they are children ^H1121 of harlotry ^H2183.

“For their mother ^H517 has played ^H2181 the ^H2181 harlot ^H2181;

She who conceived ^H2029 them has acted ^H954 shamefully ^H954.

For she said ^H559, ‘I will go ^H1980 after ^H310 my lovers ^H157,

“And in that day ^H3117 I will cut ^H3772 a covenant ^H1285 for them

With the beasts ^H2416 of the field ^H7704,

The birds ^H5775 of the sky ^H8064,

And the creeping ^H7431 things ^H7431 of the ground ^H127.

And I will break ^H7665 the bow ^H7198, the sword ^H2719, and war ^H4421 from the land ^H776,

And I will make them lie ^H7901 down ^H7901 in security ^H983.

“And I will betroth ^H781 you to Me forever ^H5769;

Indeed, I will betroth ^H781 you to Me in righteousness ^H6664 and in justice ^H4941,

In lovingkindness ^H2617 and in compassion ^H7356,

And I will betroth ^H781 you to Me in faithfulness ^H530.

Then you will know ^H3045 Yahweh ^H3068.

“And it will be ^H1961 in that day ^H3117, that I will answer ^H6030,” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068.

“I will answer ^H6030 the heavens ^H8064, and they will answer ^H6030 the earth ^H776,

And the earth ^H776 will answer ^H6030 the grain ^H1715, the new ^H8492 wine ^H8492, and the oil ^H3323,

And they will answer ^H6030 [fn]Jezreel ^H3157.

“And I will sow ^H2232 her for Myself in the land ^H776.

I will also have ^H7355 compassion ^H7355 on ^H7355 [fn]her who had not obtained ^H7355 compassion ^H7355,

And I will say ^H559 to [fn]those who were not My people ^H5971,

‘You are My people ^H5971!’

And [fn]they will say ^H559, ‘You are my God ^H430!’”
