Jesus, High Priest of a New Covenant

Heb 8:2

Heb 8:2a minister [fn]in the [fn]holy places and [fn]in the true [fn]tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.

Heb 8:3

Heb 8:3For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.

Heb 8:4

Heb 8:4Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who offer the gifts according to the Law;

Heb 8:5

Heb 8:5who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses [fn]was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, “SEE,” He says, “THAT YOU MAKE all things ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN WHICH WAS SHOWN YOU ON THE MOUNTAIN.”

Heb 8:6

Heb 8:6But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.

Heb 8:7

Heb 8:7For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second.

Heb 8:8

Heb 8:8For finding fault with them, He says,

[fn]WHEN^G2532 I WILL COMPLETE^G4931 A NEW^G2537 COVENANT^G1242

Heb 8:9

NOT LIKE^G2596 THE COVENANT^G1242 WHICH^G3739 I MADE^G4160 WITH THEIR FATHERS^G3962

IN THE DAY^G2250 WHEN I TOOK^G1949 THEM BY THE HAND^G5495

TO LEAD^G1806 THEM OUT OF THE LAND^G1093 OF EGYPT^G125;

FOR THEY DID NOT CONTINUE^G1696 IN MY COVENANT^G1242,

AND I DID NOT CARE^G272 FOR THEM, SAYS^G3004 THE [fn]LORD^G2962.

Heb 8:10

“FOR THIS^G3778 IS THE COVENANT^G1242 THAT I WILL MAKE^G1303 WITH THE HOUSE^G3624 OF ISRAEL^G2474

Heb 8:11

“AND THEY SHALL NOT TEACH^G1321 EVERYONE^G1538 HIS FELLOW^G4177 CITIZEN^G4177,

AND EVERYONE^G1538 HIS BROTHER^G80, SAYING^G3004, ‘KNOW^G1097 THE LORD^G2962,’

Heb 8:12

“FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL^G2436 TO THEIR INIQUITIES^G93,

Heb 8:13
