Heb 5:1

For every^G3956 high^G749 priest^G749 taken^G2983 from among^G1537 men^G444 is appointed^G2525 on^G5228 behalf^G5228 of men^G444 in things pertaining^G4314 to God^G2316, in^G2443 order^G2443 to^G2443 offer^G4374 both^G5037 gifts^G1435 and sacrifices^G2378 for sins^G266,

Heb 5:2

Heb 5:2being able to deal gently with the ignorant and misguided, since he himself also is [fn]beset with weakness;

Heb 5:3

Heb 5:3and because of it, he is obligated, just as for the people, to also offer sacrifices for sins in the same way for himself.

Heb 5:4

Heb 5:4And no one takes this honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was.

Heb 5:5

In^G3779 this^G3779 way^G3779 also^G2532 Christ^G5547 did not glorify^G1392 Himself^G1438 to become^G1096 a high^G749 priest^G749, but He who^G5101 said^G2980 to Him,

“YOU ARE MY SON^G5207,

Heb 5:6

just^G2531 as He says^G3004 also^G2532 in another^G2087 passage,

“YOU ARE A PRIEST^G2409 FOREVER^G165

ACCORDING^G2596 TO THE ORDER^G5010 OF MELCHIZEDEK^G3198.”

Heb 5:7

He, [fn]in the days^G2250 of His flesh^G4561, [fn]offered^G4374 up^G4374 both^G5037 prayers^G1162 and supplications^G2428 with loud^G2478 crying^G2906 and tears^G1144 to the One able^G1410 to save^G4982 Him [fn]from death^G2288, and He [fn]was heard^G1522 because^G575 of His reverence^G2124.

Heb 5:8

Heb 5:8Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.

Heb 5:9And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,

Heb 5:12For though [fn]by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the [fn]elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
