Joseph Sends for Jacob

Then Joseph^H3130 could^H3201 not restrain^H662 himself before all^H3605 those who stood^H5324 by him, and he called^H7121 out^H7121, “Have everyone^H3605 go^H3318 out^H3318 from me.” So there [fn]was no^H3808 man^H376 with him when Joseph^H3130 made^H3045 himself known^H3045 to his brothers^H251.

Gen 45:2

Gen 45:2Then he [fn]wept loudly. And the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it.

Gen 45:3

Gen 45:3Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?” But his brothers could not answer him, for they were terrified at his presence.

Gen 45:4

Then Joseph^H3130 said^H559 to his brothers^H251, “Please^H4994 come^H5066 near^H5066 to me.” And they came^H5066 near^H5066. And he said^H559, “I am Joseph^H3130, your brother^H251, whom^H834 you sold^H4376 into Egypt^H4714.

Gen 45:5

Gen 45:5“So now do not be grieved or angry [fn]with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.

Gen 45:6

Gen 45:6“For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.

Gen 45:7

Gen 45:7“So God sent me before you to establish for you a remnant in the earth and to keep you alive for a great remnant of survivors.

Gen 45:8

Gen 45:8“So now, it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has set me as a father to Pharaoh and lord of all his household and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

Gen 45:9

Gen 45:9“Hurry and go up to my father, and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph, “God has set me as lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay.

Gen 45:10

Gen 45:10“And you shall [fn]live in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children and your flocks and your herds and all that you have.

Gen 45:11

Gen 45:11“There I will also provide for you, for there are still five years of famine to come, lest you and your household and all that you have be impoverished.”’

Gen 45:12

Gen 45:12“And behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see, that it is my mouth which is speaking to you.

Gen 45:13

Gen 45:13“So you must tell my father of all my glory in Egypt and all that you have seen; and you must hurry and bring my father down here.”

Gen 45:14

Gen 45:14Then he fell on his brother Benjamin’s neck and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck.

Gen 45:15

Gen 45:15He kissed all his brothers and wept on them, and afterward his brothers talked with him.

Gen 45:16

Now the [fn]news^H6963 was heard^H8085 in Pharaoh’s^H6547 house^H1004, saying^H559, “Joseph’s^H3130 brothers^H251 have come^H935.” And it was good^H3190 in the sight^H5869 of Pharaoh^H6547 and in the sight^H5869 of his servants^H5650.

Gen 45:17

Gen 45:17Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, ‘Do this: load your beasts and [fn]go to the land of Canaan,

Gen 45:18

Gen 45:18and take your father and your households and come to me, and I will give you the [fn]best of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land.’

Gen 45:19

Gen 45:19“Now you are commanded, ‘Do this: [fn]take wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father and come.

Gen 45:20

Gen 45:20‘Now do not [fn]concern yourselves with your goods, for the [fn]best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’”

Gen 45:21

Then the sons^H1121 of Israel^H3478 did^H6213 so^H3651; and Joseph^H3130 gave^H5414 them wagons^H5699 according^H5921 to the [fn]command^H6310 of Pharaoh^H6547, and he gave^H5414 them provisions^H6720 for the journey^H1870.

Gen 45:22

Gen 45:22To [fn]each of them he gave changes of garments, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of garments.

Gen 45:23

Gen 45:23Now to his father he sent [fn]as follows: ten donkeys loaded with the [fn]best things of Egypt and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and sustenance for his father [fn]on the journey.

Gen 45:24

So he sent^H7971 his brothers^H251 away^H7971, and they departed^H1980. And he said^H559 to them, “Do not be stirred^H7264 up^H7264 on the journey^H1870.”

Gen 45:25

Gen 45:25Then they went up from Egypt, and came to the land of Canaan to their father Jacob.

Gen 45:26

Gen 45:26And they told him, saying, “Joseph is still alive, and indeed he is ruler over all the land of Egypt.” But [fn]his heart was stunned, for he did not believe them.

Gen 45:27

Gen 45:27Yet they told him all the words of Joseph that he had spoken to them, and he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him. Then the spirit of their father Jacob revived.
