Abram and Lot Separate

So Abram^H87 went^H5927 up^H5927 from Egypt^H4714 to the [fn]Negev^H5045, he and his wife^H802 and all^H3605 that belonged to him, and Lot^H3876 with him.

Gen 13:2

Now Abram^H87 was very^H3966 rich^H3515 in livestock^H4735, in silver^H3701 and in gold^H2091.

Gen 13:3

Gen 13:3And he went [fn]on his journeys from the [fn]Negev as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

Gen 13:4

Gen 13:4to the place of the altar which he had made there formerly; and there Abram called upon the name of Yahweh.

Gen 13:5

Now Lot^H3876, who was going^H1980 with Abram^H87, also^H1571 had^H1961 flocks^H6629 and herds^H1241 and tents^H168.

Gen 13:6

Gen 13:6And the land could not [fn]sustain them [fn]while living together, for their possessions were so abundant that they were not able to live together.

Gen 13:7

Gen 13:7And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. Now the Canaanite and the Perizzite were living then in the land.

Gen 13:8

So Abram^H87 said^H559 to Lot^H3876, “Please^H4994 let there be no^H408 strife^H4808 between^H996 you and me, nor between^H996 my herdsmen^H7462 and your herdsmen^H7462, for we are brothers^H251.

Gen 13:9

Gen 13:9“Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me; if to the left, then I will go to the right; or if to the right, then I will go to the left.”

Gen 13:10

Gen 13:10Then Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the [fn]valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere—this was before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.

Gen 13:11

Gen 13:11So Lot chose for himself all the [fn]valley of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. Thus they separated from each other.

Gen 13:12

Gen 13:12Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived in the cities of the [fn]valley and moved his tents as far as Sodom.

Gen 13:13

Gen 13:13Now the men of Sodom were evil and sinners, exceedingly so, against Yahweh.

Gen 13:14

And Yahweh^H3068 said^H559 to Abram^H87, after^H310 Lot^H3876 had separated^H6504 from him, “Now^H4994 lift^H5375 up^H5375 your eyes^H5869 and look^H7200 from the place^H4725 where^H834^H8033 you are, northward^H6828 and southward^H5045 and eastward^H6924 and westward^H3220;

Gen 13:15

Gen 13:15for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your seed forever.

Gen 13:16

Gen 13:16“And I will make your seed as the dust of the earth, so that if anyone can number the dust of the earth, then your seed can also be numbered.
