Prophecy Against the Shepherds of Israel

Then the word^H1697 of Yahweh^H3068 came^H1961 to me saying^H559,

Eze 34:2“Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to [fn]those shepherds, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Woe, shepherds of Israel who have been [fn]shepherding themselves! Should not the shepherds shepherd the flock?

Eze 34:3

Eze 34:3“You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you sacrifice the fat sheep without shepherding the flock.

Eze 34:4

Eze 34:4“Those who are sickly you have not strengthened, and the [fn]diseased you have not healed, and the broken you have not bound up, and the scattered you have not brought back, nor have you searched for the lost; but with strength and with severity you have dominated them.

Eze 34:5

Eze 34:5“They were scattered for lack of a shepherd, and they became food for every beast of the field and were scattered.

Eze 34:6

Eze 34:6“My flock wandered through all the mountains and on every high hill; My flock was scattered over all the surface of the earth, and there was no one to seek or search for them.”’”

Eze 34:7

Therefore^H3651, you shepherds^H7462, hear^H8085 the word^H1697 of Yahweh^H3068:

Eze 34:8

Eze 34:8“As I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “surely because My flock has become plunder, My flock has even become food for all the beasts of the field for lack of a shepherd, and My shepherds did not seek for My flock, but rather the shepherds shepherded themselves and did not shepherd My flock;

Eze 34:9

Eze 34:9therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh:

Eze 34:10

Eze 34:10‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will seek My flock from their hand and make them cease from shepherding the flock. So the shepherds will not shepherd themselves anymore, but I will deliver My flock from their mouth so that they will not be food for them.”’”

Yahweh Will Shepherd His Flock

Eze 34:11

For thus^H3541 says^H559 Lord^H136 Yahweh^H3068, “Behold^H2009, I Myself^H589 will seek^H1875 My sheep^H6629 and care^H1239 for them.

Eze 34:12

Eze 34:12“As a shepherd [fn]cares for his herd in the day when he is among his [fn]sheep which are spread out, so I will [fn]care for My [fn]sheep and will deliver them from all the places to which they were scattered on a cloudy and gloomy day.

Eze 34:13

Eze 34:13“I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and bring them to their own land; and I will shepherd them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams, and in all the inhabited places of the land.

Eze 34:14

Eze 34:14“I will shepherd them in a good pasture, and their grazing ground will be on the mountain heights of Israel. There they will lie down on good grazing ground and be shepherded in [fn]rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.

Eze 34:15

Eze 34:15“I will shepherd My flock, and I will make them lie down,” declares Lord Yahweh.

Eze 34:16

Eze 34:16“I will search for the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken, and strengthen the sick; but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd them with judgment.

Eze 34:17

“As for you, My flock^H6629, thus^H3541 says^H559 Lord^H136 Yahweh^H3068, ‘Behold^H2009, I will judge^H8199 between^H996 one [fn]sheep^H7716 and another^H7716, between the rams^H352 and the male^H6260 goats^H6260.

Eze 34:18

Eze 34:18‘Is it too slight a thing for you that you should be shepherded in the good pasture, that you must tread down with your feet the rest of your pastures? Or that you should drink of the clear waters, that you must [fn]foul the rest with your feet?

Eze 34:19

Eze 34:19‘As for My flock, they must be shepherded on what you tread down with your feet and drink what you [fn]foul with your feet!’”

Eze 34:20

Therefore^H3651, thus^H3541 says^H559 Lord^H136 Yahweh^H3068 to them, “Behold^H2009, I, even I, will judge^H8199 between^H996 the fat^H1277 sheep^H7716 and the lean^H7330 sheep^H7716.

Eze 34:21

Eze 34:21“Because you push with side and with shoulder, and thrust at all the sickly with your horns until you have scattered them [fn]abroad,

Eze 34:22

Eze 34:22therefore, I will save My flock, and they will no longer be plunder; and I will judge between one sheep and another.

Eze 34:23

“Then I will establish^H6965 over^H5921 them one^H259 shepherd^H7462, My servant^H5650 David^H1732, and he will shepherd^H7462 them; he will shepherd^H7462 them himself^H1931 and be their shepherd^H7462.

Eze 34:24

Eze 34:24“And I, Yahweh, will be their God, and My servant David will be prince among them; I, Yahweh, have spoken.

Yahweh’s Covenant of Peace

Eze 34:25

“I will cut^H3772 a covenant^H1285 of peace^H7965 with them and cause harmful^H7451 beasts^H2416 to cease^H7673 from the land^H776 so that they may live^H3427 securely^H983 in the wilderness^H4057 and sleep^H3462 in the woods^H3293.

Eze 34:26

Eze 34:26“I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing. And I will cause showers to come down in their season; they will be showers of blessing.

Eze 34:27

Eze 34:27“Also the tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its produce, and they will be secure on their land. Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I have broken the bars of their yoke and have delivered them from the hand of those who enslaved them.

Eze 34:28

Eze 34:28“They will no longer be plunder to the nations, and the beasts of the earth will not devour them; but they will live securely, and no one will make them tremble.

Eze 34:29

Eze 34:29“I will establish for them a [fn]renowned planting place, and they will not again be [fn]victims of famine in the land, and they will not bear the dishonor of the nations anymore.
