Prophesy Against Tyre

Now it happened in the eleventh^H6249^H6240 year^H8141, on the first^H259 of the month^H2320, that the word^H1697 of Yahweh^H3068 came^H1961 to me saying^H559,

Eze 26:2

Eze 26:2“Son of man, because Tyre has said concerning Jerusalem, ‘Aha, the gateway of the peoples is broken; it has [fn]opened to me. I shall be filled, now that she is laid waste,’

Eze 26:3

Eze 26:3therefore thus says Lord Yahweh, ‘Behold, I am against you, O Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.

Eze 26:4

Eze 26:4‘They will make the walls of Tyre a ruin and pull down her towers; and I will scrape her dust from her and make her a bare rock.

Eze 26:5

Eze 26:5‘She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken,’ declares Lord Yahweh, ‘and she will become plunder for the nations.

Eze 26:6

Eze 26:6‘Also her daughters who are [fn]on the mainland will be killed by the sword, and they will know that I am Yahweh.’”

Eze 26:7

For thus^H3541 says^H559 Lord^H136 Yahweh^H3068, “Behold^H2009, I will bring^H935 upon Tyre^H6865 from the north^H6828 Nebuchadnezzar^H5019 king^H4428 of Babylon^H894, king^H4428 of kings^H4428, with horses^H5483, chariots^H7393, horsemen^H6571, and an assembly^H6951, a great^H7227 number of people^H5971.

Eze 26:8

Eze 26:8“He will kill your daughters [fn]on the mainland with the sword; and he will make siege walls against you, cast up a ramp against you, and raise up a large shield against you.

Eze 26:9

Eze 26:9“The blow of his battering rams he will direct against your walls, and with his swords he will tear down your towers.

Eze 26:10

Eze 26:10“Because of the abundance of his horses, the fine dust raised by them will cover you; your walls will shake at the noise of horsemen and [fn]wagons and chariots when he enters your gates as men enter a city that is breached.

Eze 26:11

Eze 26:11“With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will kill your people with the sword; and your strong pillars will come down to the ground.

Eze 26:12

Eze 26:12“Also they will make a spoil of your wealth and a plunder of your merchandise, and pull down your walls and tear down your desirable houses, and [fn]throw your stones and your timbers and your debris into the water.

Eze 26:13

Eze 26:13“So I will cause the tumult of your songs to cease, and the sound of your harps will be heard no more.

Eze 26:14

Eze 26:14“I will make you a bare rock; you will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I Yahweh have spoken,” declares Lord Yahweh.

Eze 26:15

Thus^H3541 says^H559 Lord^H136 Yahweh^H3068 to Tyre^H6865, “Shall not the coastlands^H339 shake^H7493 at the sound^H6963 of your downfall^H4658 when the wounded^H2491 groan^H602, when the killing^H2027 occurs^H2026 in your midst^H8432?

Eze 26:16

Eze 26:16“Then all the princes of the sea will go down from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with [fn]trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble every moment, and be appalled at you.

Eze 26:17

Eze 26:17“They will take up a lamentation over you and say to you,

‘How^H349 you have perished^H6, O inhabited^H3427 one,

From the seas^H3220, O city^H5892 that was praised^H1984,

Which^H834 was strong^H2389 on the sea^H3220,

She and her inhabitants^H3427,

Who^H834 [fn]imposed^H5414 [fn]her terror^H2851

On all^H3605 her inhabitants^H3427!

Eze 26:18

‘Now^H6258 the coastlands^H339 will tremble^H2729

On the day^H3117 of your downfall^H4658;

Yes, the coastlands^H339 which^H834 are by the sea^H3220

Will be dismayed^H926 at your departure^H3318.’”

Eze 26:19

For thus^H3541 says^H559 Lord^H136 Yahweh^H3068, “When I make^H5414 you a city^H5892 laid^H2717 waste^H2717, like the cities^H5892 which^H834 are not inhabited^H3427, when I bring^H5927 up^H5927 the deep^H8415 over^H5921 you and the great^H7227 waters^H4325 cover^H3680 you,

Eze 26:20

Eze 26:20then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you inhabit the lower parts of the earth, like the ancient waste places, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not [fn]be inhabited; but I will set glory in the land of the living.
