If They Will Not Believe These Signs

Then Moses^H4872 answered^H6030 and said^H559, “What if^H2005 they will not believe^H539 me and will not listen^H8085 to my voice^H6963? For they may say^H559, ‘Yahweh^H3068 has not appeared^H7200 to you.’”

Exo 4:2

Exo 4:2And Yahweh said to him, “What is this in your hand?” And he said, “A staff.”

Exo 4:3

Exo 4:3Then He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.

Exo 4:4

Exo 4:4And Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand and grasp it by its tail”—so he stretched out his hand and took hold of it, and it became a staff in his [fn]hand—

Exo 4:5

Exo 4:5“that they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

Exo 4:6

And Yahweh^H3068 furthermore^H5750 said^H559 to him, “Now^H4994 put^H935 your hand^H3027 into your bosom^H2436.” So he put^H935 his hand^H3027 into his bosom^H2436; then he took^H3318 it out^H3318, and behold^H2009, his hand^H3027 was leprous^H6879 like snow^H7950.

Exo 4:7

Exo 4:7Then He said, “Return your hand into your bosom.” So he returned his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it returned to being like the rest of his flesh.

Exo 4:8

Exo 4:8“And so it will be, if they will not believe you or listen to the [fn]witness of the first sign, they may believe the [fn]witness of [fn]this last sign.

Exo 4:9

Exo 4:9“But if it will be that they will not believe even these two signs and that they will not listen to your voice, then you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry land; and the water which you take from the Nile will become blood on the dry land.”

Aaron to Speak for Moses

Exo 4:10

Then Moses^H4872 said^H559 to Yahweh^H3068, “Please^H994, Lord^H136, I have never^H3808 been a man^H376 of words^H1697, neither^H1571 [fn]recently^H4480^H8543 nor^H1571 in time^H8032 past^H8032, nor^H1571 since^H227 You have spoken^H1696 to Your slave^H5650; for I am one with a [fn]hard^H3515 mouth^H6310 and a [fn]hard^H3515 tongue^H3956.”

Exo 4:11

Exo 4:11And Yahweh said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh?

Exo 4:12

Exo 4:12“So now, go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth and will instruct you what you shall speak.”

Exo 4:13

Exo 4:13But he said, “Please, Lord, [fn]send now the message by whomever You will.”

Exo 4:14

Exo 4:14Then the anger of Yahweh burned against Moses, and He said, “Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that [fn]he can certainly speak. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you. And he will see you and be glad in his heart.

Exo 4:15

Exo 4:15“And you are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I, even I, will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will instruct [fn]you in what you shall do.

Exo 4:16

Exo 4:16“Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people; and he will become as a mouth for you, and you will become as God to him.

Exo 4:17

Exo 4:17“And you shall take in your hand this staff, with which you shall do the signs.”

Moses Returns to Egypt

Exo 4:18

Then Moses^H4872 went^H1980 and returned^H7725 to [fn]Jethro^H3500 his father-in-law^H2859 and said^H559 to him, “Please^H4994, let me go^H1980, that I may return^H7725 to my brothers^H251 who^H834 are in Egypt^H4714 and see^H7200 if they are still^H5750 alive^H2416.” And Jethro^H3503 said^H559 to Moses^H4872, “Go^H1980 in peace^H7965.”

Exo 4:19

Exo 4:19And Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return to Egypt, for all the men who were seeking your life are dead.”

Exo 4:20

Exo 4:20So Moses took his wife and his sons and mounted them on a donkey and returned to the land of Egypt. Moses also took the staff of God in his hand.

Exo 4:21

And Yahweh^H3068 said^H559 to Moses^H4872, “When you go^H1980 to return^H7725 to Egypt^H4714, see^H7200 to it that all^H3605 the miraculous^H4159 wonders^H4159 which^H834 I have put^H7760 in your hand^H3027, that you do^H6213 them before^H6440 Pharaoh^H6547; but as for Me, I will [fn]harden^H2388 his heart^H3820 with strength^H2388 so that he will not let^H7971 the people^H5971 go^H7971.

Exo 4:22

Exo 4:22“Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Israel is My son, My firstborn.

Exo 4:23

Exo 4:23“So I said to you, ‘Let My son go that he may serve Me’; but you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.”’”

Exo 4:24

Now it happened^H1961 at the lodging^H4411 place^H4411 on the way^H1870 that Yahweh^H3068 encountered^H6298 him and sought^H1245 to put^H4191 him to^H4191 death^H4191.

Exo 4:25

Exo 4:25Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son’s foreskin and touched [fn]his feet with it, and she said, “You are indeed a bridegroom of blood to me!”

Exo 4:26

Exo 4:26So He let him alone. At that time she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood” with reference to the circumcision.

Exo 4:27

Then Yahweh^H3068 said^H559 to Aaron^H175, “Go^H1980 to meet^H7122 Moses^H4872 in the wilderness^H4057.” So he went^H1980 and encountered^H6298 him at the mountain^H2022 of God^H430 and kissed^H5401 him.

Exo 4:28

Exo 4:28And Moses told Aaron all the words of Yahweh with which He had sent him, and all the signs that He had commanded him to do.

Exo 4:29

Exo 4:29Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered all the elders of the sons of Israel;

Exo 4:30

Exo 4:30and Aaron spoke all the words which Yahweh had spoken to Moses. He then did the signs in the sight of the people.

Exo 4:31

Exo 4:31So the people believed; and they heard that Yahweh [fn]cared about the sons of Israel and that He had seen their affliction. So they bowed low and worshiped.
