Instructions for Making the Tabernacle

(Exo 36:8–38 )

“Moreover you shall make^H6213 the tabernacle^H4908 with ten^H6235 curtains^H3407 of fine^H8336 twisted^H7806 linen^H8336 and [fn]blue^H8504 and purple^H713 and scarlet^H8144 material; you shall make^H6213 them with cherubim^H3742, the work^H4639 of a skillful^H2803 designer^H2803.

Exo 26:2

Exo 26:2“The length of each curtain shall be [fn]twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each curtain four [fn]cubits; all the curtains shall have [fn]the same measurements.

Exo 26:3

Exo 26:3“Five curtains shall be [fn]joined to one another, and the other five curtains shall be [fn]joined to one another.

Exo 26:4

Exo 26:4“And you shall make loops of [fn]blue on the edge of the [fn]outermost curtain in the one set, and likewise you shall make them on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in the second [fn]set.

Exo 26:5

Exo 26:5“You shall make fifty loops in the one curtain, and you shall make fifty loops on the [fn]edge of the curtain that is in the second [fn]set; the loops shall be opposite each other.

Exo 26:6

Exo 26:6“You shall make fifty clasps of gold, and you shall [fn]join the curtains to one another with the clasps so that the [fn]tabernacle will be a unit.

Exo 26:7

“Then you shall make^H6213 curtains^H3407 of goats’^H5795 hair for a tent^H168 over^H5921 the tabernacle^H4908; you shall make^H6213 eleven^H6249^H6240 curtains^H3407 in all.

Exo 26:8

Exo 26:8“The length of each curtain shall be [fn]thirty cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; the eleven curtains shall have [fn]the same measurements.

Exo 26:9

Exo 26:9“And you shall [fn]join five curtains by themselves and the other six curtains by themselves, and you shall double over the sixth curtain [fn]at the front of the tent.

Exo 26:10

Exo 26:10“You shall make fifty loops on the edge of the [fn]curtain that is outermost in the one [fn]set, and fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in the second [fn]set.

Exo 26:11

“You shall make^H6213 fifty^H2572 clasps^H7165 of [fn]bronze^H5178, and you shall put^H935 the clasps^H7165 into the loops^H3924 and [fn]join^H2266 the tent^H168 together^H2266 so that it will be one unit^H259.

Exo 26:12

Exo 26:12“The [fn]overlapping part that is left over in the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that is left over, shall lap over the back of the tabernacle.

Exo 26:13

Exo 26:13“The cubit on one side and the cubit on the other, of what is left over in the length of the curtains of the tent, shall lap over the sides of the tabernacle on one side and on the other to cover it.

Exo 26:14

Exo 26:14“You shall make a covering for the tent of rams’ skins [fn]dyed red and a covering of porpoise skins above.

Exo 26:15

“Then you shall make^H6213 the boards^H7175 for the tabernacle^H4908 of acacia^H7848 wood^H6086, standing^H5975 upright^H5975.

Exo 26:16

Exo 26:16“Ten cubits shall be the length of [fn]each board, and one and a half cubits the width of each board.

Exo 26:17

Exo 26:17“There shall be two [fn]tenons for each board, [fn]fitted to one another; thus you shall do for all the boards of the tabernacle.

Exo 26:18

Exo 26:18“You shall make the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards [fn]for the south side.

Exo 26:19

Exo 26:19“You shall make forty bases of silver under the twenty boards, two bases under one board for its two tenons, and two bases under another board for its two tenons;

Exo 26:20

Exo 26:20and for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, twenty boards,

Exo 26:21

Exo 26:21and their forty bases of silver; two bases under one board and two bases under another board.

Exo 26:22

Exo 26:22“For the [fn]rear of the tabernacle, to the west, you shall make six boards.

Exo 26:23

Exo 26:23“You shall make two boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the [fn]rear.

Exo 26:24

Exo 26:24“They shall be [fn]separated beneath, but together at their completion [fn]at its top, [fn]at the first ring; thus it shall be with both of them: they shall form the two corners.

Exo 26:25

Exo 26:25“There shall be eight boards with their bases of silver, sixteen bases; two bases under one board and two bases under another board.

Exo 26:26

“Then you shall make^H6213 bars^H1280 of acacia^H7848 wood^H6086, five^H2568 for the boards^H7175 of one^H259 side^H6763 of the tabernacle^H4908,

Exo 26:27

Exo 26:27and five bars for the boards of the [fn]other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle for the [fn]rear side to the west.

Exo 26:28

Exo 26:28“The middle bar in the [fn]center of the boards shall pass through from end to end.

Exo 26:29

Exo 26:29“You shall overlay the boards with gold and make their rings of gold as holders for the bars; and you shall overlay the bars with gold.

Exo 26:30

Exo 26:30“Then you shall erect the tabernacle according to its [fn]plan which you have been shown in the mountain.

Exo 26:31

“You shall make^H6213 a veil^H6532 of [fn]blue^H8504 and purple^H713 and scarlet^H8144 material and fine^H8336 twisted^H7806 linen^H8336; it shall be made^H6213 with cherubim^H3742, the work^H4639 of a skillful^H2803 designer^H2803.

Exo 26:32

Exo 26:32“You shall [fn]hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, their hooks also being of gold, on four bases of silver.

Exo 26:33

Exo 26:33“You shall [fn]hang up the veil under the clasps, and you shall bring in the ark of the testimony there within the veil; and the veil shall separate for you the holy place and the Holy of Holies.

Exo 26:34

Exo 26:34“You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the Holy of Holies.

Exo 26:35

Exo 26:35“You shall set the table outside the veil and the lampstand opposite the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south; and you shall put the table on the north side.

Exo 26:36

“You shall make^H6213 a screen^H4539 for the doorway^H6607 of the tent^H168 of [fn]blue^H8504 and purple^H713 and scarlet^H8144 material and fine^H8336 twisted^H7806 linen^H8336, the work^H4639 of a [fn]weaver^H7551.

Exo 26:37

Exo 26:37“You shall make five pillars of acacia for the screen and overlay them with gold, their hooks also being of gold; and you shall cast five bases of [fn]bronze for them.
