Bringing First Fruits and Tithes

“Then it will be, when^H3588 you enter^H935 the land^H776 which^H834 Yahweh^H3068 your God^H430 gives^H5414 you as an inheritance^H5159 and you possess^H3423 it and live^H3427 in it,

Deu 26:2

Deu 26:2that you shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground which you bring in from your land that Yahweh your God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place where Yahweh your God chooses for His name to dwell.

Deu 26:3

Deu 26:3“And you shall go to the priest who is in office in those days and say to him, ‘I declare this day to Yahweh [fn]my God that I have entered the land which Yahweh swore to our fathers to give us.’

Deu 26:4

Deu 26:4“Then the priest shall take the basket from your hand and set it down before the altar of Yahweh your God.

Deu 26:5

Deu 26:5“And you shall answer and say before Yahweh your God, ‘My father was a [fn]wandering Aramean, and he went down to Egypt and [fn]sojourned there, few in number; but there he became a great, mighty, and populous nation.

Deu 26:6

Deu 26:6‘And the Egyptians treated us harshly and afflicted us and imposed hard slave labor on us.

Deu 26:7

Deu 26:7‘Then we cried out to Yahweh, the God of our fathers, and Yahweh heard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression;

Deu 26:8

Deu 26:8and Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and wonders;

Deu 26:9

Deu 26:9and He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Deu 26:10

Deu 26:10‘So now behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground which You, O Yahweh, have given me.’ And you shall set it down before Yahweh your God and worship before Yahweh your God;

Deu 26:11

Deu 26:11and you and the Levite and the sojourner who is among you shall be glad in all the good which Yahweh your God has given you and your household.

Deu 26:12

“When^H3588 you have finished^H3615 [fn]paying^H6237 all^H3605 the tithe^H4643 of your produce^H8393 in the third^H7992 year^H8141, the year^H8141 of tithing^H4643, then you shall give^H5414 it to the Levite^H3881, to the sojourner^H1616, to the [fn]orphan^H3490, and to the widow^H490, that they may eat^H398 within your gates^H8179 and be^H7646 satisfied^H7646.

Deu 26:13

Deu 26:13“Then you shall say before Yahweh your God, ‘I have purged the sacred portion from my house, and I also have given it to the Levite and the sojourner, the [fn]orphan and the widow, according to all Your commandments which You have commanded me; I have not trespassed against or forgotten any of Your commandments.

Deu 26:14

Deu 26:14‘I have not eaten of it [fn]while mourning, nor have I purged any of it while I was unclean, nor have I given any of it to the dead. I have listened to the voice of Yahweh my God; I have done according to all that You have commanded me.

Deu 26:15

Deu 26:15‘Look down from Your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel and the ground which You have given to us, a land flowing with milk and honey, as You swore to our fathers.’

Deu 26:16

“This^H2088 day^H3117 Yahweh^H3068 your God^H430 commands^H6680 you to do^H6213 these^H428 statutes^H2706 and judgments^H4941. You shall therefore be^H8104 careful^H8104 to do^H6213 them with all^H3605 your heart^H3824 and with all^H3605 your soul^H5315.

Deu 26:17

Deu 26:17“You have today declared Yahweh to be your God, and [fn]that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and listen to His voice.

Deu 26:18

Deu 26:18“And Yahweh has today declared you to be His people, a treasured possession, as He promised you, and [fn]that you should keep all His commandments;

Deu 26:19

Deu 26:19and [fn]that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise, a name, and beauty; and that you shall be a holy people to Yahweh your God, as He has spoken.”
