Deu 25:1

“If^H3588 there is a dispute^H7379 between^H996 men^H376 and they go^H5066 to court^H4941 for judgment, and [fn]the judges^H8199 judge^H8199 their case, and they justify^H6663 the righteous^H6662 and condemn^H7561 the wicked^H7563,

Deu 25:2

Deu 25:2then it shall be if the wicked man [fn]deserves to be struck, the judge shall then make him lie down and be struck in his presence with the number of stripes according to his [fn]guilt.

Deu 25:3

Deu 25:3“He may strike him forty times but no more, lest he strike him with many more stripes than these and your brother be dishonored in your eyes.

Deu 25:4

“You shall not muzzle^H2629 the ox^H7794 while it is threshing^H1758.

Deu 25:5

“If^H3588 brothers^H251 live^H3427 together^H3162 and one^H259 of them dies^H4191 and has^H369 no^H369 son^H1121, then the wife^H802 of the one^H4191 who^H4191 died^H4191 shall not be married outside^H2351 the family to a strange^H2114 man^H376. Her husband’s^H2993 brother^H2993 shall go^H935 in^H935 to her and take^H3947 her to himself as wife^H802 and perform^H2992 the duty^H2992 of^H2992 a^H2992 husband’s^H2992 brother^H2992 to her.

Deu 25:6

Deu 25:6“And it will be that the firstborn whom she bears shall [fn]assume the name of his dead brother, so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.

Deu 25:7

Deu 25:7“But if the man does not desire to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders and say, ‘My husband’s brother refuses to raise up a name for his brother in Israel; he is not willing to perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.’

Deu 25:8

Deu 25:8“Then the elders of his city shall summon him and speak to him. And if he stands and says, ‘I do not desire to take her,’

Deu 25:9

Deu 25:9then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the sight of the elders and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, ‘Thus it is done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.’

Deu 25:10

Deu 25:10“And in Israel his name shall be called, ‘The house of him whose sandal is removed.’

Deu 25:11

“If^H3588 two men^H376, a man^H376 and his brother^H251, are struggling^H5327 together^H3162, and the wife^H802 of one^H259 comes^H7126 near^H7126 to deliver^H5337 her husband^H376 from the hand^H3027 of the one who is striking^H5221 him, and she puts^H7971 out^H7971 her hand^H3027 and seizes^H2388 his genitals^H4016,

Deu 25:12

Deu 25:12then you shall cut off her [fn]hand; [fn]you shall not show pity.

Deu 25:13

“You shall not have^H1961 in your bag^H3599 [fn]differing^H68 weights^H68, a large^H1419 and a small^H6996.

Deu 25:14

Deu 25:14“You shall not have in your house [fn]differing measures, a large and a small.

Deu 25:15

Deu 25:15“You shall have a full and just weight; you shall have a full and just [fn]measure, that your days may be prolonged in the [fn]land which Yahweh your God gives you.

Deu 25:16

Deu 25:16“For everyone who does these things, everyone who acts unjustly, is an abomination to Yahweh your God.

Deu 25:17

“Remember^H2142 what^H834 Amalek^H6002 did^H6213 to you along the way^H1870 when you came^H3318 out^H3318 from Egypt^H4714,

Deu 25:18

Deu 25:18how he met you along the way and attacked among you all the stragglers at your rear, but you were faint and weary; and he did not [fn]fear God.

Deu 25:19

Deu 25:19“Therefore it will be, when Yahweh your God has given you rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which Yahweh your God gives you as an inheritance to [fn]possess, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you must not forget.
