Those Who May Not Enter the Assembly

“No^H3808 one^H6481 who is [fn]emasculated^H1795^H6481 or has his male^H8212 organ^H8212 cut^H3772 off^H3772 shall enter^H935 the assembly^H6951 of Yahweh^H3068.

Deu 23:2

Deu 23:2“No one of illegitimate birth shall enter the assembly of Yahweh; even to the tenth generation, none of his seed shall enter the assembly of Yahweh.

Deu 23:3

Deu 23:3“No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of Yahweh; even to the tenth generation, none of their seed shall ever enter the assembly of Yahweh,

Deu 23:4

Deu 23:4because they did not meet you with [fn]food and water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of [fn]Mesopotamia, to curse you.

Deu 23:5

Deu 23:5“Nevertheless, Yahweh your God was not willing to listen to Balaam, but Yahweh your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because Yahweh your God loves you.

Deu 23:6

Deu 23:6“You shall never seek their peace or their prosperity all your days.

Deu 23:7

“You shall not abhor^H8581 an Edomite^H130, for he is your brother^H251; you shall not abhor^H8581 an Egyptian^H4713, for^H3588 you were a sojourner^H1616 in his land^H776.

Deu 23:8

Deu 23:8“The sons of the third generation who are born to them may enter the assembly of Yahweh.

Deu 23:9

“When^H3588 you go^H3318 out^H3318 as [fn]an army^H4264 against^H5921 your enemies^H340, you shall keep^H8104 yourself from every^H3605 evil^H7451 thing^H1697.

Deu 23:10

“If^H3588 there is among you any^H376 man^H376 who^H834 is unclean^H3808^H2889 because^H4480 of a nocturnal^H3915 emission^H7137, then he must go^H3318 outside^H413^H4480^H2351 the camp^H4264; he may not [fn]reenter^H935^H8432 the camp^H4264.

Deu 23:11

Deu 23:11“But it shall be when evening approaches, he shall bathe himself with water, and at sundown he may [fn]reenter the camp.

Deu 23:12

“You shall also have^H1961 a place^H3027 outside^H4480^H2351 the camp^H4264 and go^H3318 out^H3318 there^H8033,

Deu 23:13

Deu 23:13and you shall have a [fn]spade among your tools, and it shall be when you sit down outside, you shall dig with it and shall turn [fn]to cover up your excrement.

Deu 23:14

Deu 23:14“Since Yahweh your God walks in the midst of your camp to deliver you and to give your enemies over to you, therefore your camp must be holy; and He must not see [fn]anything indecent among you, [fn]or He will turn away from you.

Deu 23:15

“You shall not hand^H5462 over^H5462 to his master^H113 a slave^H5650 who^H834 has [fn]escaped^H5337 from his master^H113 to you.

Deu 23:16

Deu 23:16“He shall live with you in your midst, in the place which he shall choose in one of your gates of the towns where it pleases him; you shall not mistreat him.

Deu 23:17

“None^H3808 of the daughters^H1323 of Israel^H3478 shall be a cult^H6945 prostitute^H6945, nor^H3808 shall any^H4480 of the sons^H1121 of Israel^H3478 be a cult^H6945 prostitute^H6945.

Deu 23:18

Deu 23:18“You shall not bring the hire of a harlot or the wages of a [fn]dog into the house of Yahweh your God for any votive offering, for both of these are an abomination to Yahweh your God.

Deu 23:19

“You shall not charge^H5391 interest^H5391 to your brother^H251: interest^H5392 on money^H3701, food^H400, or anything^H3605 that may be loaned^H5391 at^H5391 interest^H5391.

Deu 23:20

Deu 23:20“You may charge interest to a foreigner, but to your brother you shall not charge interest, so that Yahweh your God may bless you in all [fn]that you send forth your hand to do in the land which you are about to enter to [fn]possess.

Deu 23:21

“When^H3588 you make^H5087 a vow^H5088 to Yahweh^H3068 your God^H430, you shall not delay^H309 to pay^H7999 it, for Yahweh^H3068 your God^H430 will surely^H1875 require^H1875 it of you; and it will be a sin^H2399 in you.

Deu 23:22

Deu 23:22“However, if you refrain from vowing, it will not be a sin in you.

Deu 23:23

Deu 23:23“You shall be careful and do what goes out from your lips, just as you have voluntarily vowed to Yahweh your God that which you spoke with your mouth.

Deu 23:24

“When^H3588 you enter^H935 your neighbor’s^H7453 vineyard^H3754, then you may eat^H398 grapes^H6025 [fn]until you are fully^H7648 satisfied^H7648, but you shall not put^H5414 any in your [fn]basket^H3627.

Deu 23:25

“When^H3588 you enter^H935 your neighbor’s^H7453 standing^H7054 grain^H7054, then you may pluck^H6998 the heads^H4425 with your hand^H3027, but you shall not wield^H5130 a sickle^H2770 in your neighbor’s^H7453 standing^H7054 grain^H7054.
