Colossians 3 :: Legacy Standard Bible (LSB)

Put On the New Man

Col 3:1

Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Col 3:2[fn]Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
Col 3:3For you died and your life has been hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4When Christ, who is our life, is manifested, then you also will be manifested with Him in glory.
Col 3:5

Therefore, [fn]consider the members of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

Col 3:6On account of these things, the wrath of God is coming [fn]upon the sons of disobedience,
Col 3:7and in them you also once walked, when you were living [fn]in them.
Col 3:8But now you also, lay them all aside: wrath, anger, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.
Col 3:9[fn]Do not lie to one another, since you put off the old man with its evil practices,
Col 3:10and have put on the new man who is being [fn]renewed to a full knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—
Col 3:11a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, [fn]barbarian, Scythian, slave, and freeman, but Christ is all and in all.
Col 3:12

So, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and [fn]patience;

Col 3:13bearing with one another, and graciously forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone, just as the Lord graciously forgave you, so also should you.
Col 3:14Above all these things put on love, which is [fn]the perfect bond of unity.
Col 3:15And let the peace of Christ [fn]rule in your hearts, to which [fn]indeed you were called in one body, and [fn]be thankful.
Col 3:16Let the word of [fn]Christ dwell in you richly, [fn]with all wisdom teaching and admonishing [fn]one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing [fn]with gratefulness in your hearts to God.
Col 3:17And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Family and Work

Col 3:18

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

Col 3:19Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.
Col 3:20Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is pleasing [fn]to the Lord.
Col 3:21Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.
Col 3:22

Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters [fn]according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but with [fn]integrity of heart, fearing the Lord.

Col 3:23Whatever you do, do your work [fn]heartily, as for the Lord [fn]rather than for men,
Col 3:24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward [fn]of the inheritance. [fn]Serve the Lord Christ.
Col 3:25For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and [fn]that without partiality.
