In Iconium

Now it happened^G1096 that in Iconium^G2430 they entered^G1525 the synagogue^G4864 of the Jews^G2453 together^G2596^G3588^G846 and spoke^G2980 in^G3779 such^G3779 a^G3779 manner^G3779 that a large^G4183 number^G4128 of^G4128 people^G4128 believed^G4100, both^G5037 of Jews^G2453 and of Greeks^G1672.

Act 14:2

Act 14:2But the [fn]unbelieving Jews instigated and embittered the [fn]minds of the Gentiles against the brothers.

Act 14:3

Act 14:3Therefore they spent a long time there speaking boldly with reliance upon the Lord, who was testifying to the word of His grace, granting that [fn]signs and wonders be done through their hands.

Act 14:4

Act 14:4But the multitude of the city was divided; and some [fn]sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

Act 14:5

Act 14:5And when an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers to mistreat and to stone them,

Act 14:6

Act 14:6they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding region;

Act 14:7

Act 14:7and there they continued to proclaim the gospel.

In Lystra and Derbe

Act 14:8

And at Lystra^G3082 a man^G435 was sitting^G2521 who^G3739 had no^G102 strength^G102 in his feet^G4228, lame^G5560 from his mother’s^G3384 womb^G2836, who^G3739 had never^G3763 walked^G4043.

Act 14:9

Act 14:9This man listened to Paul as he spoke, who, when he fixed his gaze on him and saw that he had faith to be [fn]saved from being lame,

Act 14:10

Act 14:10said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he leaped up and began to walk.

Act 14:11

Act 14:11And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they raised their voice, saying in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have become like men and have come down to us.”

Act 14:12

Act 14:12And they began calling Barnabas, [fn]Zeus, and Paul, [fn]Hermes, because he was [fn]the chief speaker.

Act 14:13

Act 14:13And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was [fn]just outside the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and was wanting to offer sacrifice with the crowds.

Act 14:14

Act 14:14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out

Act 14:15

Act 14:15and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of the same nature as you, proclaiming the gospel to you that you should turn from these [fn]vain things to a living God, WHO MADE THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND THE SEA AND ALL THAT IS IN THEM.

Act 14:16

Act 14:16“[fn]In the generations gone by He permitted all the [fn]nations to go their own ways;

Act 14:17

Act 14:17and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.”

Act 14:18

Act 14:18And saying these things, with difficulty they restrained the crowds from offering sacrifice to them.

Act 14:19

But Jews^G2453 came^G1904 from Antioch^G490 and Iconium^G2430, and after winning^G3982 over^G3982 the crowds^G3793 and stoning^G3034 Paul^G3972, they were dragging^G4951 him out of the city^G4172, supposing^G3543 him to be dead^G2348.

Act 14:20

Act 14:20But while the disciples stood around him, he rose up and entered the city. The next day he went away with Barnabas to Derbe.

Act 14:21

Act 14:21And after they had proclaimed the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,

Act 14:22

Act 14:22strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many afflictions we must enter the kingdom of God.”

Act 14:23

Act 14:23And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, having prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

The Return to Antioch

Act 14:24

And when they passed^G1330 through^G1330 Pisidia^G4099, they came^G2064 into Pamphylia^G3828.

Act 14:25

Act 14:25And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

Act 14:26

Act 14:26And from there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled.

Act 14:27

Act 14:27And when they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and [fn]how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

Act 14:28

Act 14:28And they spent not a little time with the disciples.
