The Man of Lawlessness

Now^G1161 we ask^G2065 you, brothers^G80, with regard^G5228 to the [fn]coming^G3952 of our Lord^G2962 Jesus^G2424 Christ^G5547 and our gathering^G1997 together^G1997 to Him,

2Th 2:2

2Th 2:2that you not be quickly shaken in your mind or be alarmed whether by a spirit or a word or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

2Th 2:3

2Th 2:3Let no one in any way deceive you, for it has not come unless the [fn]apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

2Th 2:4

2Th 2:4who opposes and exalts himself above [fn]every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the [fn]sanctuary of God, exhibiting himself as being God.

2Th 2:5

2Th 2:5Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?

2Th 2:6

2Th 2:6And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed.

2Th 2:7

2Th 2:7For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.

2Th 2:8

2Th 2:8And then that lawless one will be revealed—whom the Lord [fn]Jesus WILL SLAY WITH THE BREATH OF HIS MOUTH and bring to an end by the appearance of His [fn]coming—

2Th 2:9

2Th 2:9whose [fn]coming is in accord with the working of Satan, with all power and [fn]signs and false wonders,

2Th 2:10

2Th 2:10and with [fn]all the deception of unrighteousness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

2Th 2:11

2Th 2:11And for this reason God sends upon them a [fn]deluding influence so that they will believe [fn]what is false,

2Th 2:12

2Th 2:12in order that they all may be [fn]judged who did not believe the truth, but [fn]took pleasure in unrighteousness.

2Th 2:13

But we should^G3784 always^G3842 give^G2168 thanks^G2168 to God^G2316 for you, brothers^G80 beloved^G25 by the Lord^G2962, because^G3754 God^G2316 has chosen^G138 you [fn]as the first^G536 fruits^G536 for salvation^G4991 through^G1722 sanctification^G38 [fn]by the Spirit^G4151 and faith^G4102 in the truth^G225.

2Th 2:14

2Th 2:14 [fn]It was for this He called you through our gospel, [fn]that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2Th 2:15

2Th 2:15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter [fn]from us.
