Solomon Builds Yahweh’s House

(1Ki 6:1–22 )

Then Solomon^H8010 began^H2490 to build^H1129 the house^H1004 of Yahweh^H3068 in Jerusalem^H3389 on Mount^H2022 Moriah^H4179, where^H834 Yahweh had appeared^H7200 to his father^H1 David^H1732, at the place^H4725 that David^H1732 had prepared^H3559 on the threshing^H1637 floor^H1637 of [fn]Ornan^H771 the Jebusite^H2983.

2Ch 3:2Then he began to build on the second day in the second month [fn]of the fourth year of his reign.

2Ch 3:3

2Ch 3:3Now these are the [fn]foundations which Solomon laid for building the house of God. The length in cubits, according to the old standard was [fn]sixty cubits, and the width twenty cubits.

2Ch 3:4

2Ch 3:4And the porch which was in front of the house was as long as the width of the house, [fn]20 cubits, and the height 120; and inside he overlaid it with pure gold.

2Ch 3:5

2Ch 3:5Now he overlaid the [fn]main room with cypress wood and overlaid it with fine gold, and [fn]ornamented it with palm trees and chains.

2Ch 3:6

2Ch 3:6Further, he overlaid the house with precious stones for beauty; and the gold was gold from [fn]Parvaim.

2Ch 3:7

2Ch 3:7He also covered the house with gold—the beams, the thresholds and its walls and its doors; and he carved cherubim on the walls.

2Ch 3:8

And he made^H6213 the [fn]room^H1004 of the Holy^H6944 of Holies^H6944: its length^H753 across^H5921^H6440 the width^H7341 of the house^H1004 was twenty^H6242 cubits^H520, and its width^H7341 was twenty^H6242 cubits^H520; and he covered^H2645 it with fine^H2896 gold^H2091, amounting to [fn]600^H8337^H3967 talents^H3603.

2Ch 3:9Now the weight of the nails was [fn]fifty shekels of gold. He also covered the upper rooms with gold.

2Ch 3:10

Then in the room^H1004 of the Holy^H6944 of Holies^H6944 he made^H6213 two^H8147 cherubim^H3742 of fashioned^H4639 work^H6816 and overlaid^H6823 them with gold^H2091.

2Ch 3:11

2Ch 3:11Now the wingspan of the cherubim was twenty cubits; the wing of one, of five cubits, touched the wall of the house, and its other wing, of five cubits, touched the wing of the other cherub.

2Ch 3:12

2Ch 3:12And the wing of the other cherub, of five cubits, touched the wall of the house; and its other wing of five cubits was attached to the wing of the [fn]first cherub.

2Ch 3:13

2Ch 3:13The wings of these cherubim extended twenty cubits, and they stood on their feet [fn]facing the main room.

2Ch 3:14

2Ch 3:14And he made the veil of blue, purple, crimson, and fine linen, and he ornamented cherubim on it.

2Ch 3:15

He also made^H6213 two^H8147 pillars^H5982 for the front^H6440 of the house^H1004, [fn]thirty-five^H7970^H2568 cubits^H520 [fn]high^H753, and the capital^H6858 on the top^H7218 of each was five^H2568 cubits^H520.

2Ch 3:16

2Ch 3:16And he made chains in the inner sanctuary and put them on the top of the pillars; and he made one hundred pomegranates and put them on the chains.

2Ch 3:17

2Ch 3:17Thus he set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the right and one on the left, and named the one on the right Jachin and the one on the left Boaz.
