Sanctification and Love

Finally^G3062 then^G3767, brothers^G80, we ask^G2065 and exhort^G3870 you in the Lord^G2962 Jesus^G2424, that as you received^G3880 from us as to how^G4459 you ought^G1163 to [fn]walk^G4043 and please^G700 God^G2316 (just^G2531 as you actually^G2532 do [fn]walk^G4043), that you excel^G4052 still^G3123 more^G3123.

1Th 4:2

1Th 4:2For you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

1Th 4:3

1Th 4:3For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from [fn]sexual immorality;

1Th 4:4

1Th 4:4that each of you know how to [fn]possess his own [fn]vessel in sanctification and honor,

1Th 4:5

1Th 4:5not in [fn]lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;

1Th 4:6

1Th 4:6and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you.

1Th 4:7

1Th 4:7For God did not call us to impurity, but [fn]in sanctification.

1Th 4:8

1Th 4:8Consequently, he who sets this aside is not setting aside man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.

1Th 4:9

1Th 4:10

1Th 4:10for indeed you do practice it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to excel still more,

1Th 4:11

1Th 4:11and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,

1Th 4:12

1Th 4:12so that you will walk properly toward outsiders and [fn]not be in any need.

The Dead in Christ Will Rise

1Th 4:13

But we do not want^G2309 you to be uninformed^G50, brothers^G80, about^G4012 those^G3588 who are^G2837 asleep^G2837, so^G2443 that you will not grieve^G3076 as do the rest^G3062 who have^G2192 no^G3361 hope^G1680.

1Th 4:14

1Th 4:14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep [fn]in Jesus.

1Th 4:15

1Th 4:15For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive [fn]and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

1Th 4:16

1Th 4:16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a [fn]shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

1Th 4:17

1Th 4:17Then we who are alive [fn]and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
